South Beach is generally safe. Stay on that side of the bridge.If you venture out a bit Coconut Grove can be safe if you hang out around Mayfair,going towar us1 on Grand ave is not advised after dark. Stay away from Liberty City, Opa Locka, Carol City, Allapatah, Brownsville, Overtown etc... SW Miami-Dade county has some good spots, Kendall(try Dadeland Mall) or the Falls Shopping Center on the West side of US1 opposite Pinecrest.In the SW stay away from Perrine, West Perrine, Goulds, Cutler Ridge,So. Miami Heights etc... Good luck and have fun.

Aventura, Fort Lauderdale( Las Olas is ok),Plantation,Pembroke PInes,Tamarac,Kendall,Boca Raton,
South Beach & Miami Beach are pretty safe usually,
But Stay away from Liberty City, Opa Locka, Carol City, Allapatah, Overtown, Downtown Miami at night,and some parts of East Hollywood nearest to Federal Hwy,
also stay away from biscayne & 79th street at night & lil Haiti thats prostitute & crack heaven basically day or noghts there.
Nobodys attacking tourists anymore that was years ago but, use your common sense, go with your gut if it doesn't feel right & always ask a police for directions or go to a public place.

Miami Beach is wonderful. Check out Lincoln Street for shopping or walk around the beach area. The first time we went our concierge set us up on a tour... for a few hours we were able to see the highlights of Miami (Coral Gables, Little Havana, etc.).
This was much better than trying to drive our way around the city!

don't go into the city, stay on miami beach and you'll be just fine
