Usually a woman gains weight while she's on the pill rather than getting off it. Biggest problem is getting your hormones back to normal. When I went off BC, at first I had periods every 2 weeks, then had no period for 2 months and that's when I decided to start it up again at the reccomendation of my doctor. If you're positive you're ready to stop taking the pill, be prepared to deal with the changing hormones and anything that may come with it.

Every contraceptive varies, and every woman's body varies, too. Gaining weight is usually a side effect of being on birth control, not coming off of it. One of the side effects that is very noticeable is having a painful period, because birth control helps ease the symptoms of the monthly cycle.
