If you want great scenery (green mountains, nice lakes and rivers) and a great climate year round (mild winters with some snow but not too much, nice summers that are not too hot) go to western North Carolina.
If you want summer weather year round then Florida is your place.
If you want the hustle and the bustle of a big city, lots to do every minute of the day and night; tall buildings and the occasional park in the middle of the city, your best bet is New York!
But if you have a happy and contented state of mind, anyplace can be the best.

While I don't live there, a place that really does have a bit of everything is Missouri. It combines the opportunities of two major cities with quaint small towns and rugged mountain landscapes and has four seasons, none of which is all that extreme.
