We have 2 hermite crabs what can I feed them besides the pellet food you get at pet stores.

land hermies eat everything. they eat rotten wood (don't know why), dead animals, their exoskeleton after they molt it, apples, bananas, bread, celery, carrots.

My Caribbean Hermit Crab, Vi, loves papaya. It's her favorite.

I've had mine for over a year now, and find that they eat practically anything I can give them. Cut up carotts are excellent, pineapple, apples, Cheerios, bananas, Green Leaf Vegetables (not iceberg lettuce), Aquarium fish food, etc. I tried to feed them those hard pellets they sell for hermits, but they never touched it. One thing that helped is to crush the pellets up and mix it with peanut butter. They really love that one. Also, make sure that you remove any uneaten food within 24 hours because it will start to mold.
