I am going to Madrid and plan to shop some clothes - I am slim but 190cm tall, so how are my chances?

Hi, your chances are good. Not all of us spaniards are short you know? Though often other cultures estereotype Spain, and Spaniards most countries, including Spain are as much of a melting pot as the US, Aust. or wherever. Remember we are the actual BasketBall champions of the World!!! Yet the mediun height is today I believe 175-180 4 men. In fact you might find a lot of x-size related bargains in clothes and shoes.

Anywayt, goinf to the point. Most good shops have x-large and xx-large clothes. Best shops are, oredered in term of + to - x-pensive.

- Calle de Serrano & alrededores (most x-pensive)
- Calle Almirante & alrededores
- Calle Princesa especially the mini-malls
- Corte Inglés (many establishments throuth madrid have all type and many excellent well priced often clothes)
- Zara ( especial sales stores chains with many establishments, good clothes that have some reason to be on sale, from thyeir x-size to a missed stitch, not necesarry errors fullfill their sale criteria), least Xpensive and you might find sales for XL 6 XXL clothes and shoes. There are many Zara´s (princesa, centro, look up yellow pages)

Also El Ratro flea-market c/ corredera de curtidores, has a humongous varieyt of little stands full of knew unused clothes. Prizes vary and often, not always you can bargain. To do so you must stop several times in same shop. First just stop to look, show interest, ask price, 2 x-pensive but continue, stop again, you liek but still to x-pensive talk if "¿a como me dejas esto?, 2 x-pensive, see who is ready to ddeal. Palan to be there several hours there are many good bars, lost of young people, and once you find what you looking for, trace a discount .route,. Only (-) is there are many pickpockets in el Rastro so carefull with where you carry your €. The (+) is you will find everything there is on sale on spanish soil (leg. or illeg.) there.

So it depends of your budget. Clothes are cheap, beautifull, diverse and well made in general since there is a lot of competition. Have fun and good shopping
