Unless it is from a reputable school that also happens to offer an online degree program....NO. Most of the online degree programs are "for profit" schools which means they are incorporated for the purpose of earning money. In comparison, most reputable schools are not-for-profit organizations which means that while they may turn a profit, these profits are put back into the school be it for research, faculty, students, etc.
In today's job environment, unless you go to a top college, a bachellors degree is equivalent to getting a high school diploma to most employers...it is expected. Getting an online degree from one of the many scam schools out there is equivalent to getting a GED...i.e. it isn't worth a whole lot.
Your money would be better spent going to a trade school (which is a pretty darn good investment if you can't get into and/or don't have the time to attend a traditional institution)

No.
Example: In the state of West Virginia, you can't be licensed as a psychologist with an online degree. 80% of your courses must have been completed on campus.
The best online/distance learning schools are the ones that have an actual campus as well (ie, the brick & mortar schools). Online schools that have no actual campus suck and aren't worth it.
For example, if your degree is from Harvard University or University of Montana or Point Park College or some college that is real and has a physical building you can also go to and take classes in, your degree is worth more than this University of Phoenix BS. Many traditional universities are now offering online degree programs.
