Bush and company throw the fundamentalists an occasional bone just to keep them interested, but he see's them as a bunch of whacks. He uses them like he uses everyone else. They're just grist for the political mill.

Well aside from the obvious (that Republican leaders don't really care about the values stuff), it wasn't until the appointment of Samuel Alito last year that the balance of power changed on the Supreme Court. A challenge to Roe v. Wade may very well make it to the Supreme Court some time in the future.

It's because the LAST thing the rightwingers want is illegal abortion. What will they use to get the religious right to vote for them if abortion is illegal? It's the same reason cancer and AIDS will never be cured--to many of the wrong people riding the train, and they don't want the ride to ever end.

True, and the answer is it was all smoke and mirrors from the Republicans to loot America like they have done. Abortion was never a issue with them at the Federal level, it's a State issue.

There are a lot of pro-choice voters out there. It would be political suicide to challenge Roe. The right wing religious types are happy simply hearing their candidates put down the pro-choicers, but they don't expect any action on their part.

EDUCATING YAHOO LIBS
The words are "threw" and "unbridled" little guy--don't hurt yourself. Your sentence structure needs major work as well. May I suggest "Elements of Style" by Strunk & White. It's a basic primer.
Roe v. Wade was the most dangerous decision ever rendered by the Court. It was a direct attack on Federalism and deemed something a "fundamental Constitutional right" that was outlawed in 36 States for nearly 200 years. Do you like when rights are taken away from the People to decide issues for the benefit of a few harlots? Try the Amendment process.

Bush used the religious right to get elected. He has no more respect for them than he does the Soldiers he sends in harm's way.
