Why is this question becoming a fight for who works most? The questioner's point is that there is no good reason for Americans, in this wonderful country, with this flourishing economy, to have to work 60 hours a week. There also seems to be the assumption that it's voluntary. The country is in a shameful place to force anyone to work 60 hours a week, often without benefits, just to live and support their families. And for some to tell this questioner to "man up" and stop whining is ridiculous. As long as people like you are marginalizing that huge segment of the population that is the working poor, things are only going to get worse. Shame on you who tried to look "better" by saying you work more hours or that this person is to be looked down upon.

I see from your profile that you're young, working towards a goal. That's a good thing, however, minimum wage is all you're going to get and even at 60 hrs a week it won't amount to squat. So here's what you do, go to your local institute of higher learning and find out about financial assistance, then spend 30 hrs a week in class and 20 at work. In 4 years you'll have a degree and will be able to live on 40 hrs a week.......By the way, you'd be surprised how many people consider a 60 hr week the norm, liberal and conservative.

Who cares how many hours someone may work a week? It's a stupid question. There are people working 30 hrs a week and making more money than some working 80 hrs a week. Anyone with a job and living a happy life isn't lazy. If you take on a 2nd and 3rd job, just because someone called you lazy, you're letting them control your life.

Um, yeah I used to work 100 hrs a week whilst a conservative. Get a 4th job and then you will be a conservative. Actually, by your 2nd and 3rd job I think you will start turning into a conservative when you see all the libs are taking out of your paychecks.

Yeah they will. They feel that if you don't slump over and die on the job after 100 hours a week that you are a lazy person. They don't realize that people who work 30 to 40 hours a week are more efficient at it and actually have a fulfilling family life with a loving husband or wife. They have the philosophy that if you're not miserable and rich, you're lazy and a nobody. I personally don't give a crap what they think. I think their moralities are warped and their work ethic is more about having suicidal tendencies because of their loneliness than it is about their love of their jobs.

Most of the military is made up of Republicans. Tell our brave troops that you are upset about having to work 60 hours a week. Newsflash, they work 24/7, work in horrible conditions, are away from their families for months or years at a time, and get paid crap. And you know the amazing thing? They aren't on here whining or complaining. They are proud to do it.
