1. Because you don't work for them.
2. If you don't like congress (and I don't) then VOTE THEM OUT.

Why people keep voting incumbents in, when they're obviously almost all acting like they are royalty, and we are their subjects, just drives me insane.

Thay should not get raises, cause thay are already over payed. and as for the minimum wage raise, that's a joke. Quick economics lesson. When the Government raises the minimum wage this is the effect. everything including the cost of living raises also. So here is what hap pins, those who made the minimum even though the wage is higher, now has to pay more for everything cause of the cost of living raised, in effect thay did not get head thay stayed the same. The people who get hurt in the minimum wage Raise are the ones that are just above the minimum either the mini mun raises to the level thay are at or almost to it, and most employers will not give them an equal Raise so in effect thay end up getting a cut to pay cause the cost of live moved up. This hurt the economy. Sorry...

They keep giving themselves pay increases because they can. I may be mistaken but I think they have to vote against their raises. That may be the senate....

If I were you, I'd quit worrying about the national figure head and start looking at your local peons that represent your district. They are probably the most underpaid politicians we have.

By the way: Minimum wage was increased.

Because they realize if the American public voted they would all get a 10% cut in pay. Too many times they have missed standing up against the run away judicial system.

Not even close... Your talking about the royal order of Congress my friend... the US Fraternity!!! Here's a little ditty that I'm sure you and millions of american people don't even know... did you know that along with the authority to administer raises for themselves every year... they passed a law that completely exempts them from ever having to pay into Social Security Wages, and Income Taxes... did you know that after they retire from Congress they continue to receive their payroll check at the same pay rate they received while they were actively in office... and did you know that after a royal member passes away that their spouse goes on to receive their payroll check until the day the spouse dies... Yea, the americans dream... Way to go US Congress what a bunch of stand up guys you are... and freedom for all huh... Our illustrious Government gave them the authority to pretty much make the rules out to be whatever they see fit for their tribe... Don't you know that all that bullsnot about Independence day, the war with England, and our rights to be free... were a bunch of bullsnot... the settlers wanted to be free of the Kings Monarchy because they were sick of the same treatment we are sick of that's the bull snot they fed us when I was a kid and 137 years after the settlers wanted to restart their own lives we began our own Monarchy anyway.. Hey, you can't tell me that a bunch of farmers with pitch forks beat the Brittish Army all thoughs years ago they had outnumbered our troops by hundreds of thousands... England left because we cut a deal with them... That's why the French were so pissed at us! they faught side by side because they wanted to cut the deal with us and we stuck it to them just like we stick it to our own... Pay raise you say? ha... What's in it for the illustrious Congress and the US Government... Chew on that fact for a while... maybe its time for the american people to wake up and realize that we are taken up the whazzu... we are contnuously fed handfuls of bullsnot in order to line some other fat pigs wallet with our blood our lives and our hopes... I think the english term is
"keep it dark"!!!

They use words like freedom, and fight for our rights, and use our emotions based on their self inflicted fears. they pitch us crazy lies about how these other countries want to distroy us because of our freedom in one hand and allow them to penetrate our country in order to implement the very laws that only benefit them in the other hand... they try to divide us because they know if we stood together we would prevail WAKE UP WORLD the Planet NEED YOU TO TURN THIS AROUND... Not by anger not by war but by hope of a better world. this is the only world we have... We must think about these words see the similarity in their meaning and you will reveal the truth...
