Yes, but proving things would be difficult.
There could be many examples you could speculate on though, like for instance:

A teenage girl has sex with some guy at a party.
She gets pregnant, the guy abandons her, and she has the baby.
Now she's a single parent with a 5 year old boy, and has to work two jobs to support both of them.
As a single parent feels guilty that she's not home enough for her small son, so she spoils him and doesn't discipline him.
He grows up with no respect for authority.
Therefore he does poorly in school, he can't get a good job when he grows up, and get in trouble with the law.
He gets arrested, goes to prison, and gets stabbed to death by another inmate.

Yes it is! I would bet you can find tons of information on the theory of it.
And you can use examples from people you know...those who smoke and those who don't. Those who tend to have risky behaviors (such as speeding) and those who don't. The amount of stress they carry around with them on a daily basis.
