I'm getting a laptop that I'll use for schoolwork, watching movies, and games. Should I get a Apple or Dell and why/what kind?

depends on how much you are looking to spend. i had a dell my first 2 years of college and now got an apple. I love the my mac. Its good for watching movies/picture editing, etc. and obviously you can get microsoft word on it for school work... it has the best battery life and its better with picking up wireless internet then my dell was. both are good computers though

Apple these Days are up a level...they have all the word and xcel on them..but if you have pc's at school and you take stuff home on a removable hard drive..then the work from the pc wont work on the apple and vis versa...so it's alot to take into consideration...i have both a apple and a pc..the apple looks so cool..and the pc..well not excitin..there are so many nice new apples out like the mac book! built in cam..everything...but they are bringin out a new Os which is called lapered or panther or somethign look on the web site so wait a while till they bring that out..it wont be long...go to somewhere like pcworld and go on the apples there or go to the apple store..they will have soem for you to try..

Well the biggest thing i think is what is the school on. is the network compatible for both macs and windows. If it is you would be much better going with the mac because it offers much more for a similar price. Also you can get a lot of stuff that you wouldn't be able to get on a pc. Try to go with the new macbook because it has the built in isight camera. Get a windows beecause that will be the easiest for word processing and general work, and you can still watch movies on it. Go with a dell XPS. Good Luck!

I would reccomend the Apple but if you're in college, you'll want to check with your school's networking guys whether they allow Apples on their systems because some do not... Apples are good for watching movies, making movies, music, we have microsoft word and powerpoint on ours so they're good for schoolwork. Apple iBook is what I use...

Windows suck, Macs (Apple) are better. I have been using windows for my whole life. Windows computers can't handle multimedia like macs can. most apples have built in superdrives (CD and DVD burner) and use Open GL technology for 3D renderings (videogames run smoothly with Open GL). There is also a microsoft office available on apple.com for school work. The superdrive i mentioned earlier can also play CDs and DVDs. If a windows computer has a built in DVD drive, you have to find software online to use it as a DVD Player. All Macs come with the DVD Drive AND the software it needs to play the movies.

Macs have only one downside, they cost as high as $2000.

P.S. My iBook G4 is a 2005 model. the new macbooks come fresh from 2006 and 2007. My iBook is pretty f_cking fast, imagine how apple added on to that!

I easily have an INSPIRON DELL and that i like it to the tip of the international (this is the main stable laptop i've got ever had). although, this is worthwhile to to be careful, because of the fact from time to time dells are widespread to crash, even however mine in no way has in the years i've got had it. i individually think of Mac's are a waste of money, although this is as much as you. HP is likewise meant to be between the extra suited laptop agencies, yet their desktops are undesirable. That leads me to a diverse assertion: Dell laptops are possibly in basic terms somewhat worse than apple, because of the fact of their crashing ingredient, yet Macs have terrible desktops - Dell desktops are the perfect. desire this helped!

I love my friend's Apple notebook computer, it automatically has itunes and its has windows and the only thing to get used to is that if you X out of a screen it will not completely exit out so if you forget to save your document than you can get it back because the program is not totally closed, I love it because I have a really bad habbit of not saving so this is a big help.
