I need a good way of cleaning my sterling silver jewlery. I have a cleaner for delicate jewlery but it dosen't seem to work. My rings look as though I have had them for years instead of a couple of months. Any help would be appreciated..

My mom used to clean her jewelery in a small bowl with water and polident (denture cleaner)...removes tarnish and all that junk...tooth paste and a toothbrush work well also.

A really easy and effective way of cleaning sterling silver is:

Pour a kettle full of boiling water into a ceramic or glass dish, dissolve about 8 tablespoons of washing soda in the water. Cut about 1 metre of aluminium foil and fold it into a compact flat rectangle that will fit into your dish. Immerse the foil in the water/soad mix and you should see a foaming happening. This is the chemical reaction that will clean your silver & gold jewelry. Simply place the silver on the foil in the solution and agitate it for a few minutes. If there is intricate work on the item, use an old tooth brush to loosen the dirt. When you are satisfied that the silver is clean enough, immerse it in warm soapy water, and dry it with a soft cloth or towel. This really works.

Alternatively, you can do the same thing if you own an aluminium pot, eliminating the need for foil and a dish - the same reaction should take place.

Hope this works for you.

You can buy a special cleaner for sterling silver jewelry. It can be purchased at WalMart - among other places - and comes in a little gray jar. This stuff really works, but be sure to rinse thoroughly before drying. By the way....the best way to dry jewelry after cleaning is to lay the pieces on a clean towel, and run the blow dryer over them. No spots !!!!

Go to Ace Hardware or a jewelry store and ask for sterling silver cleaner. Then get a very soft rag such as an old tee shirt and start cleaning your jewelry. Then wipe off...and shine. What a difference it will make.

Buy a jewelry cleaner (most jewelry stores sell those- should not cost you more than $10) and use a soft cloth to polish the pieces that you are cleaning.

As for things you have around the house - both baking soda and toothpaste work really well.

Or you can but silver cleaner.
