Good question. Here is the scientific answer. The state with the most tornadoes per 1000 square miles is Oklahoma, with a bulls eye in the center of the state. However, there is also a bull eye in northern Texas for the same frequency of occurance

The highest average for annual strongest tornadoes (from F2-F5) were in Indiana. There were 2.0 tornadoes for every 10,000 square miles.
The highest average for annual tornadoes were in Oklahoma. There were 7.5 tornadoes for every 10,000 square miles.
The most tornadoes are located in Tornado Alley which includes Kansas, Iowa, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi and Nebraska. They average over 5 tornadoes per year.

It varies. Texas usually has the most. Missouri had the most last year by a long shot. Illinois came in second. With Texas having a severe drought and no hurricanes in Florida last year that is one reason the mid-west stood out last year. I read once Florida has the most by square miles. Florida twisters are generally week though.

The link in the first answer is VERY good, but hard to read.
Appears Tx has the most, but if you did it by area you might find the density or frequency/area might be higher in another state (Tx is pretty big)
