As has already been said, the only way to get over "writer's block" is to write.
Two ideas come to my mind:
A) Try a free writing exercise -- just sit down with a pen and a pad of paper and write anything that comes into your head. Anything. If you're not sure what to write, write that. Start writing and keep writing without censoring yourself or worrying about punctuation or spelling. Try it for ten or fifteen minutes.
Put those sheets away. Go out and do something physical, like walk or jog. Then free write again. If you have time, take a break and free write a third time.
Only then go back to your first sheets. See if something jumps out at you, an image or a feeling or a thought. Use that as the basis for a poem.
B) In my experience, "writer's block" is often a signal that there's something stressful going on in my life that I'm trying to avoid dealing with. If you dare, dig into the stress of your life and make a poem out of *that*.
Good luck with your portfolio!!

I had a bad case of writer's block that lasted two years! Anyways, I came across an article on how to "cure" it. Relax, a good night's sleep, take a walk, meditate, read a book, watch a movie, exersize, tea, wine. These were all things mentioned.
A bit of exersize helped me. Anything to help the body feel better will help the mind feel better. Anything that will stimulate the mind w/out over stimulating it.
Another thing I do is when I don't have a block I write down whatever ideas I get, no matter how weird or short they are. Then when I'm blocked I look at them for ideas and stimulation.
Good luck!

mayb its not writers block. sometimes when we have to take a class for something we have to write and it may not feel as inspirational for us because its more of an obligation rather than something we do becvause we feel it. But I would just google writing exercises on google. try looking at something from another angle, or ask what if questions. also reading famous poetry helps me because i can write a reply, or feed of ot ehri poem. sometimes, if the teacher is really particular to what they want us to write, we can feel ourselves changing, conforming to what they wantm, and maybe subconsciously you dont like it. I hope this helps. Yes my spelling is screwy, but you can figure it out

Something that helps me is to walk in nature, without thinking of anything in particular. Another thing that helps me with writer's block is listening to music that is meaningful to me. The key is to relax and NOT to be stressing over a "have-to" deadline. Remind yourself that you will have inspiration soon. Also a good rest can help.

Well think of something poetic. Like flowers in the breeze or something simple like that. Start brainstorming things or features about it. After that tie everything together using a rhyming dictionary off the internet. Hope that helps and good luck!

Look around, take a walk, just lie down and listen to music (it works for me!), write about random things you see, hear taste, etc. Read a book, anything and everything helps! Try not to focus on one thing and let you mind wander!

Watch a movie you've never seen, go take walks (on pretty days in a park if you can...ooo and by water!). Also, look at photographs. Read other ppl's poems (dont copy but they may give you some good ideas).
good luck
