Abortion IS legal today. I agree with it, the same as I agree with euthanasia. The government has a duty to protect the rights and health of its citizens. A person is not a citizen until they are born, so according to the government's own regulations, the government has no duty or right to "protect" the unborn child. The woman, however has rights that are to be protected. Included is the right to have an abortion.
I think that protesting abortion is fine – exercising a persons right to free speech is an important part of this country. It’s when that right infringes on the rights of others that it becomes illegal, and a woman has the right to go where she pleases without fear of harassment, bodily harm, or emotional terrorism. If a group of people is gathered peacefully outside of an abortion clinic with signs and a stack of pamphlets on alternatives, they are exercising their right to free speech. If they are shouting at people, planting bombs, holding up pictures of aborted fetuses, and taking pictures of the women going into the clinic, they are terrorists, and should be treated as such.
Part of living in this country is understanding that freedom works only if it’s granted to everyone. If you don’t agree with abortion, exercise your right to not have one. If you feel that it’s your sacred duty to stop abortions, get elected to congress, or work to change the laws. If you do everything in your power, while respecting the rights of others, God can not hold you guilty of any sort of dereliction of duty. If you destroy a person emotionally or plant a bomb to stop abortions, you are a criminal, and will be judged accordingly, by man and by God.

Aborion IS legal. It IS a legal right that citizens have.
The people should decide what should be done regarding a womans body, the exceptions and what are freedoms are and are not.
Here's my problem with the right to lifers...
One day I was driving down the street - and I saw a man with a sign that said "Baby Murdering Factory" with an arrow pointing down the street - and he had a doll - with red paint all over it and a noose around it's neck - and he was holding both of these things up. Apparently - there was an abortion clinic down the street.
Now - I don't think abortion is a good thing. It's certainly NOT something that should be used as birth control. I've never had an abortion. BUT - abortion is LEGAL in this country. And until it is illegal - people like that JERK with his sign and baby doll - need to mind their own business. Maybe if he'd truly been a compassionate, caring person - he could have held up a sign that said "Don't do it. I'll house you until you have the baby - and then I'll adopt it." Throwing guilt at the women who choose abortion doesn't solve much of anything.
I mean really - - - MAYBE some girl going down that road and seeing that sign was a victim of rape. And maybe after a lot of thought and prayer and counseling - she decided that terminating the pregnancy was the best thing. And THEN - she had to see that jerk with that sign. It's just wrong.
Some of the right-to-life people take it too far.
Again - ABORTION IS LEGAL IN THIS COUNTRY!!

This will open a can of worms but, it’s a woman’s body and she should have the right to chose. What if a man raped her and it was illegal, then she would have to have that baby by a man she hates and be reminded her every day of being rapped. I don't feel it should be the governments right to choose. People can stand outside of an abortion clinic all you want, you have a the right, freedom of speech. Just as it’s a womans right to have an abortion if she choices. What if someone has an abortion because they are so poor that they can’t afford to feed that child, so she has an abortion? What is worse the abortion or having the child starve to death? I feel it is a woman’s right to chose what is done to her body!

I personally have no problem with people protesting outside of abortion clinics as long as they are doing it peacefully and not taking it upon themselves to block doorways and harass patients and such. I think it should be up to the woman who is carrying the child, and only the woman carrying the child. There are many instances of rape, molestation and things of that nature...where the pregnancy is not only unplanned but unwanted and would cause a feeling of guilt or shame. I myself had an abortion as a teenager and feel it was one of the best decisions of my life. I was not ready for children, nor was the guy...and now that I look back on the last decade...in no way did I have the financial, mental or emotional stability to raise a child the way I feel I could now. There are many mothers that still raise great children under the same circumstances, but again...that was their choice. It is to me like any other personal choice. What job to take, what car to buy, what clothes to wear to represent yourself.... all personal choices. Abortion is legal and should stay that way in a democratic nation.

i am competely pro life
and for all you people that use the rape excuse less then 2% of abortions are because of rape go ahead and do the research
also i think you shouldnt be having sex in the first place to put yourslef in a place where you need an abortion if you arnt ready to have a kid in the first place its called RESPONSIBILITY people need to start taking responsibility for there actions and not just look for the easy way out the number 1 cause of abortion is simply carelessness and this should no be an excuse for abortion
oh and if a girl cant afford birth control then she shouldnt be having sex in the first place cause she clearly cant afford a child
wanting to get laid isnt an excuse for an abortion.
im saying that a women should be responsible for her own body and not rely on other people to take care of something that they did. Its also a womens choice weather or not she has sex so if she chooses to have sex then shouldnt she also choose the responsibility that comes along with having sex?
that is all im saying its also their responsibility to have sex. how can you say it should be their choice to abort their baby and its not their choice that their having sex and by having sex accepting the reponsibility that also comes along with it.
however, i have to agree with obama about abortion for the soul fact that if abortion did become illegal, that women would go to VERY unsafe extremes to perform one themselves.
also, i do not feel like this is the answer to overpopulation and birth control.

The government should have absolutley no right in deciding what we should do with our own bodies. Its all about control and religion for the activists.
I don't agree with abortion in most cases, but why should I be able to tell a stranger what they can and can't do. I would not want my child to be aborted, but some people feel differently.
The less power the Bush and his buddies have the better.

It's always wrong to kill innocent human beings, whether in the womb or in Iraq. When an abortion is committed, the woman's body is NOT the only body involved. Before most women even know they are pregnant (just 3 weeks after conception), their child's heart is already beating. Shouldn't the child have a say in whether he lives or dies? What about his rights? Should innocent human beings be executed when they have committed no crime?
No, there should not be exceptions. Would you kill a one-year-old because her father was a rapist? If not, why is the child in the womb fair game? Is she less worthy of life than the rest of us because of the circumstances of her conception? Should children be punished with violent death for the crime of their fathers? Abortion = not a good thing.
For me, the more important issue is the careless, unwanted pregnancies. It takes two people to spawn a child, and neither one of them is responsible enough to use ANY form of contraception...properly?
How about we allow a woman ONE abortion in her lifetime (that isn't related to a sexual assault), and if she's found guilty of securing a second one, she's subject to sterilization? I realize that puts the responsibility for the pregnancy on the woman, but I'll tell you, if I was a single woman, there's no way in HELL I'd be having sex without making sure that one of us was using effective contraception.
And another question, why in this day and age are we still restricting teenage access to contraception? Surely, a lot of abortions are teen-pregnancy-related.
I understand that abortion is a real "hot button" issue, but why do we continue to dance around the cause of the careless pregnancies?

It shouldn't be illegal and it IS NOT everyones fault if they get pregnant. Sure, it may be most people's fault but some are raped and I think these people deserve the right to get rid of a child which is going to cause them so much distress. Do they really need to be reminded of the stuff that happened to them? No, they don't... anyone with any humanity will agree with that. And also before it is born it technically isn't a child, it's just a mass of cells. However, I don't agree with people who get pregnant out of their own stupidity who have an abortion since they knew of the risks in the first place.

I would say make it illegal cause people are using it as a method of birth control I would say the only exception should be if the mothers life is at risk or rape but then the rape issue is crazy to me cause a good friend came to me and told me that her sister is a product of rape which then makes me think she wouldnt be the person she is if her mother wouldve aborted her sister , but then you would have more deaths to women if it were illegal cause drs would be doing abortions anyway so it is a crazy topic
