Depends on local and state regulations which vary significantly. Some places say if it is in the field of view of the driver, it will fail, while others say if it is larger than 1/4" it will fail. Some states do not inspect vehicles yearly, in which case it does not matter unless you get pulled over, then it may be considered a safety issue. I drove my 69 F100 for 6 years with a crack in it's windshield that ran from the top to the bottom about three inches in from the passenger side edge, but in Arizona, vehicles only get inspected when they are from out-of-state moving in.

Depends on where it's at. If it is in the line, of the drivers vision when looking forward, it must be small-the size of a BB to pass. Larger bull'seyes and cracks sometimes pass if on the far passenger side.

It all depends on your state. In NC, it can not interfere with the drives view. Or if its in the main body of the windshield of a size that may allow the windshield to break at high speeds (45mph or higher).

depends on where it's at. Not very big if it's in your field of vision. Generally if it's out of your field of vision and a quarter can cover it, you are probably okay with it.
