Yes, I think so. I think that is probably the basis for the Catholic Church confession (although I'm not Catholic myself). If you are willing to examine yourself and admit your faults and weaknesses, it will enable you to overcome them or put them aside and move in a forward, positive way.
I think it was Socrates who said the unexamined life is not worth living.
