A majority of dust is caused by the beater bar of your vacuum working on the rug fibers, the dryer bashing your clothes and human and pet skin flakes.
1- You guys can use a skin lotion to somewhat minimize your flaking. Not sure about pets though. Healthy diet for sure.
2- Dryer must vent outside, stay away from the inside contraptions that save heat. (They save heat, but very often emit dust.) Hang your clothes outside, yes even in winter. Clean the dry filter every time, and once or twice a year clean out the vent pipe.
3- Buy the pleated filters for your forced air heat/cooling system if you have one. 3M's Filtrete are nice, but run about $15 each and with monthly changing adds up. Some off brands are almost as effective and run $5 to $9 each. Change them monthly.
4- Vacuum: Never let the bag get more than 1/4 full. Yes it holds more. But the pores in the bag are closing down. Eventually they will rupture, spewing the dust around. Changing at 1/4 full helps minimize that condition.
5- Don't open your windows for fresh air! Even I wouldn't adhere to this! But in the spring a ton of yellow/green pollen gets in our house from the woods across the street. This is your call for the trade off.

Well I have a DYSON hoover and since I bought it I have´t had this problem.I have to keep the house as free form dust as much as possible as my son is allergic to dust and a few other thing´s, okay he has hamster´s but they are in another empty flat we have . so he can still have his pet´s but not in the home we live in. there are many types of DYSON hoover´s to choose from, and you can have one that come´s with the attachment for wooden floor´s.I don´t have many carpet´s in my home , but You pass the hoover & you would think they had just been washed and polished, as for the furniture dust, I use SPONTEX duster´s they are great, I dust one day and the next 3 day´s I don´t need to .There is something in these little duster wipes that stop´s the dust forming back again .Great for the TV , computer ,well all the furniture really save´s a lot off time when doing the housework , strange the first time I used these dusters I found myself looking for the dust, just thought how amazing this was

I can sympathsize with that: I have cats too, and my parents' house is in an area with a lot of red clay- which leads to an especially pernicious dust problem.
You'll need a good vacuum cleaner, preferably one with lots of filters on it. Use it frequently. Also, use a damp dusting cloth or perhaps Pledge or Endust to dust- again, frequently.
You may even want to invest in an air cleaner to pull stuff out of the air before it settles on your furninture.
Good luck!

I would look into getting a air cleaner. They comes in various sizes to suit the size of the room.Do some research and look in the consumer reports magazines, which you can either buy or go to the library to look at.
In addition to the air cleaners, even though it's a pain, get a magnetic duster like those in the infomercials, I have one, but cannot for the life of me, remember the name of it, use it to sweep with, instead of regular broom which will just fly around.
choice 3 have a filter put in your attic so that it ciculates the air throughout the house.

There are different types of air freshners that run relatively quiet that can help. You may be able to find one on the web. Type in search "electric air freshners". There are many to choose from. Pick one made by a health and wellness company. You will get one that is safe for the ecology.

Clean it!! Usually if you sweep of vacuum regularly it should be ok. A particularly great item is an electrostatic cloth that attaches to a flat type broom. It glides over the wooden floor, picks up everything - making the floor took great.
