People are people, Ken - and Republicans make a lot of mistakes. too.
But for me, personally? Yes, truth, values, morality and personal responsibility are big issues. But I'm really a conservative Libertarian, so perhaps I'm not the best one to answer this.

It is more a mantra for the social conservatives. A true GOP traditionally wants values and morality to be practiced in the home without government interference. I know you will be pointing out the hypocrisy for the values-ridden crowd. That's what the GOP was punished for in '06. We are accountable, not given more notoriety, for unscrupulous acts like the Clintons and Teddy Kennedy.
