I am writing 2 companion poems for my high school language arts class relating to the theme of innocence and experience. I think I am going to write one about the sun rising and how the rays shine on life and people coming into this world and the joys of living, and the other one about the sun setting and dying? Or maybe the other one about the sun rising and the hardships of living? Can you plz give me any help/feedback/advice/ideas. thanx

Sunrise
Talk about birth and new hope, dreams and longing to be older
Sunset
Talk about death and forgiveness, memories and a longing for youth.
If you write them together, you can match verses to topics. You might consider printing them side by side so they can be read as a single piece.

Well if you really can't think of anything go to Poetry.com.... when I get stuck reading other poetry gets my brain to relax and work better.
I wrote this short poem recently maybe it will help... or maybe not (my poems are short).

On the outside looking In

It’s hard to see quite clearly through dirty window pane
The looks and laughter smudge it, and I try to keep quite sain
It’s hard to look from the outside, to see what you can’t taste
You try to break in, but when you do, you run away with haste
They don’t know who, they don’t know what, they don’t know why I am
Looking through the window pane that isn’t there at hand
A wall between my words that try to speak to their’s
They turn away and do not talk about their dark despairs
You try to talk, they walk away
I never think they’ll earn
The respect they want from others
Until they try to learn
From the outsiders looking in

GOOD LUCK

Don't write about dying... everyone writes about dying.
