Well some people don't have to. For example I can't study and listen to a radio. My daughter could and went on to college too. (So did I later but w/o a radio) It may have to do with the two sides of the brain. Study that. It's fascinating, that and the fact women can use both sides of their brain and men only one at a time. Explains alot.

Some that you will not make a mistake in missing the address. You can not construct thought if the radio on because it is too loud and you are trying to think about the addess in your head. Some people can do both, but I know I can do it.

I don't but I know lots of people that do and it helps them to concentrate a noisy radio distracts them. Me personally I can't get into a car unless the radio is on.

Ha, ha, ha! I do that ALL the time! But I do it when I'm coming into the city. I've got to concentrate! And I can't do that with 3 kids in the back AND a radio blarring!!!!

I did this yesterday, I was lost and getting ariated, the music was doing my head in and I could'nt concentrate, when I turned the music off I found where I had gone wrong.

music distracts ur mind, and when u need to concentrate on something else, u have to turn the volume down as loud things often occupy our mind.

good question...it's for the same reason that you put your glasses on when you wake up in the middle of the night because you heard a noise! You need your eyes to hear and your ears to see!

Hehe, I do the same thing when I'm looking for a park and my friends laugh at me. Maybe for concentration, it helps me see better!

Ooh! I thought this was just me! My kids laugh at me when I do it and now I can tell them that I am not the only one who is insane...I think I do it to help me concentrate on where I am going!

I don't drive but i do the same thing when driving with my mum. See i think possibly most people can't do one thing at the same time. Or the nerves in your ears can't stand so much activities in the head or ears.
