My 19 month old has had the runs for three days now about 3 - 4 times per day. I'm not sure what is causing it as I haven't been giving her anything spicy or greasy to eat. Her bottom is very sore and she kicks and screams even before she goes onto her changing table as she doesn't want me to wipe her. I've been giving her Pedialte which doesn't seem to be helping. She doesn't seem or act sick....no fever and no fussiness. Any suggestions??

What ever you do don't use a powder with Talc in it. Talc will spread the rash and make it worse. Johnson and Johnson's Original Poweder has Talc in it. I use Burts Bees Poweder it's talc free. And I agree Destin is crap!!

Has she eaten anything new recently that may be causing it. That is an allergic reaction. It might just be a temporary tummy problem with no real cause.

Starchy foods like bananas, potatoes, rice, etc... help with the runs in infants. try adding more of that, bland and simple and see if it helps.

Best of luck hope she feels better.

Keep giving her the pedialite! If it persists for a day or two more I would call the Dr. Although they with just tell you to bring her in.....
I would bathe her with warm water and let her run around with no diaper on until her skin is completely dry. They say the best thing for a diaper rash is fresh air. When it starts to get better or whenever this happens again try using wet paper towel or a soft wash cloth instead of wipes. Don't use scented wipes anytime. She may be cutting a molar or something. If she has no fever she is probably OK. Kids have been know to grow intolerant to milk or other foods a little later so keep it in mind.

My daughter once had bad diarrhea like that around 1 1/2 too. I bathed her in a warm tub of water with the Aveeno Oatmeal Bath mix (can get at any store). I also applied a diaper rash ointment, I found that A&D worked best (the ointment, not the cream!) then I sprinkled corn starch over the ointment to help keep her dry.
My daughter's pediatrician told me that toddlers tend to get what they call "toddler diarrhea" and they don't know what causes it. Just make sure she stays hydrated. Plenty of water and pedialyte. Cut back on dairy as this tends to upset the stomach more. Hope that helps!

I would try some home remedies to stop the diarrhea such as coconut water and bananas it binds the stool to stop the diarrhea. I found a website that has more info.
Also you might want to try Aquapor skin balm, I was given a sample of it when I had my son a month ago and it leaves a barrier on the babies skin so it won't be irritated. I believe that will work good and Balmex is good too my son had some redness on his upper thigh where the diaper meets and I
dabbed a bit of some and by morning it was gone.

Neither of my daughters had a lot of diaper rash but when they did I would switch over to Pampers Sensitive wipes and that would really help it heal up fast. Another thing I would do to make sure it was clean was to use a little Cetaphil wash and then wipe that off with a soft tissue. Blowing on their bottoms to get the sting to stop seemed to help too. The smell of Desitin really killed me but I was able to find a generic version as Safeway that worked and didn't smell as bad.

More than fat or spicy foods my daughters had a hard time with acid like orange juice. Have you added anything like that?

Good luck to you.

for the diarhea try the BRATY diet, (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast and Yogurt) i know yogurt may seem wierd but it soothes the intestines (i heard this from a doc and then researched it myself). also, keep giving her pedialyte. for the diaper rash, since the cream isnt working try putting a liquid antacid on a cotton ball and putting it on her rash (just get the regular or plain flavor). i know it sounds crazy but the reason she is getting a rash is the acids in her diarhea are irritating her skin, the antacid will form a protective layer on her skin. you could also let her go without a diaper for a little while to air out. one last thing, check the rash to see if there are any pimple like red bumps, this could mean that she has a yeast infection and would need medicine or it wont go away.

attempt changing the type of diaper you're using. while you're using Pampers or Luvs you should substitute those, because of fact they have perfumes and alcohol in them. i'm not sure approximately the different manufacturers, so in basic terms be extremely careful for awhile once you purchase the diapers. it extremely is extremely useful to objective Tushies diapers or seventh era Diapers till the rash has healed. be particular to bathe you toddler extensive-unfold. once you substitute is diaper in basic terms be particular you do no longer use any diaper wipes. Use in basic terms heat water and Cotton balls, or I used Kleenex that have been unscented with a diaper rash spray that I have been given from the wellbeing food keep. On suited of that, I have been given some one hundred% Corn Starch from the baking isle interior the keep. The corn starch they sell in interior the toddler powder bottle has chemical factors in it. positioned some Vaseline on the toddler's backside first then positioned the corn starch on. i might surely get you son appeared at by a physician A.S.A.P. Take him to the ER in case you may.

I'd bring her to the doctor, that is a long time for a little one to have diarrhea, it could be a food allergy, maybe something new she has been eating? Or allergies can just develop any time. To keep her bottom comfy make sure to change her right away if she's wet or poopy, the urine is especially acidic and can cause more irritation than the diarrhea. Use aquaphor on her bottom every time, or butt paste, something that is water resistant.

My daughter was the same way and I found a medicine baby powder that seemed to help her with the rash and red skin from her dipper. And the best thing I can tell you to give her is Pedialyte from one mom to another it works great.

You also might want to check and see if she has some teeth coming in because that could also be the reason why she has the runs.

This happened to us. We would sit her in a tub of warm water for several minutes, just plain water, no baby wash added. Then we'd let her air dry for as long as possible, and we used pure zinc oxide that we got from her doctor. It takes awhile but this always worked for us.
By the way, what was causing this in our daughter was a food allergy to berries. We found out the first time when my mother-in-law gave her strawberry jello. Then one time when she had some strawberry applesauce. Even bananas could upset her system. Try eliminating some foods and seeing if it helps. Good Luck.
