Why a Jew can grow his beard in order to practice his faith ,But when Muslim does the same, he is an extremist and terrorist?
Why a nun can be covered from head to toe in order to devote herself to God, But when Muslimah does the same she oppressed??
When a western women stays at home to look after her house and kids she is respected because of sacrificing herself and doing good for the household,But when a Muslim woman does so by her will, they say, "she needs to be liberated"?
When a Christian or a Jew kills someone, religion is not mentioned, but when a Muslim is charged with a crime, it is Islam that goes to trial?
When someone sacrfices himself to keep others alive, he is noble and all respect him, But when a Palestinian does that to save his son from being killed, his brother's arm being broken, his mother being raped, his home being destroyed, and his mosque being violated-- He gets the title of a terrorist! Why? Because he is a Muslim!just a simple thought.dont b emo abt it

When there is a trouble we accept any solution? If the solution lies in Islam, we refuse to take a look at it.

When someone drives a perfect car in a bad way no one blames the car.

But when any Muslim makes a mistake or treats people in a bad manner - people say "Islam is the reason"!

first of all, i want to clear the fact that i, as an arab muslim lady who wears the veil,LOVEEE the american people, they are very pleasant and its always an honour to befriend an american.

Those are very good questions.

The answer is probably as simple as the way that the media portrays events and what people want to believe. I saw no national coverage of when McNemeny (sp?) drove a car bomb into a women's clinic in Davenport, Iowa on Septermber 11th, 2006. Had he been Arab or Muslim, instead of Irish Catholic, you can bet it would have been covered.

The same applies to the beard. A bearded man was able to walk right up to al-Ibrahimi Mosque, wearing a big star of David on his chest, and kill 30 people and injure 100. Yet I wonder how close a bearded man with a crescent on his chest would be able to get to a synagogue in the same neighbourhood.

As for nuns, I think the stereotype of nuns is actually reversed. Nuns are seen as the oppressors, not the oppressed, due to things like Catholic schools and magdalene laundries. However, we have had a number of nuns convicted of genocide, one just earlier this week, yet even with the stereotype of nuns being what it is, this got almost no coverage in the media.

However, nuns are a religious order, and not typical of Catholic women. In a number of places, nuns no longer wear habits. I would think that Menonite or Mormon women would be the comparison, because they have a religious beliefs in modesty and keep fairly covered at all times.

I am with you 100% on the housewife thing. Although there are a few places in the world where women can not work, they are not always Muslim areas. In most of the Muslim world, women can and do work. Many choose to stay home if possible. In many parts of southern and central Asia, it's actually a sign of prosperity if a woman is able to stay home and many will not marry a man if they think that they would have to work as his wife.

If Christian terrorists were reported as such everytime they commit an act of violence, we might see them differently.

Additionally, violence against Muslims is not reported in nearly the same frequency as violence by Muslims. I give presentations on religious violence and one of the things which I like to do is ask people how many million Muslims have been killed for their faith by non-Muslims in the past century. The guesses are usually fractions and decimals. Then I start my powerpoint slideshow which lists over 40 million and shows photographs of tens of thousand corpses from just the past 25 years. Members of the audience are in complete disbelief. The only exceptions that I have had were a couple of Bosnian refugees and the son of a Xinjiang refugee. They were not surprised.

People need to pay closer attention and the media needs to do a more balanced job of reporting.

Its a double standard. You just pointed that out yourself. Fact is, the manufactured villainization of Islam and its adherents fits with our governments political agenda. If they can paint Muslims as "fanatics", "extremists", "terrorists" and the like, they can foster support for our imperialist conquest in the Middle East. The same double standard applies to any marginalized, non-white group in America as well. Think about New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina: The white people with products from stores were trying to survive whereas the black people were stealing. What is the difference? Perception, agenda, racism and ethnocentrism at it boldest. Besides, I'm not sure that Christianity has a better record. Think about slavery, colonialism, the crusades....the list goes on. Christianity's record is no better.

The simple anaswer here is "coercion" Jews are not forced to grow beards. They are free to worship with a beard or without a beard. The Taliban threatened beardless men in Afghanistan with death. Do you see the difference? A Christian (or Jewish) woman may cover herself from head to toe to be extra-observant, but she may also strip down to a bikini and go to the beach if she so desires. Muslim women in many countries do not have the freedom of the latter. A Western woman may stay home and take care of her kids. A Western woman may put her children in day care and go to work. A Western woman may choose not to have kids at all. In many Muslim countries, women are not allowed to receive a secular education and are not allowed to work. In essence, they are being forced to stay home.

The next thing I am going to say will be a little painful for you to accept, but I will say it anyway in the hope that you might listen and believe. If the Palestinian people abandoned violence completely, their sons would not be killed, their brothers' arms would not be broken, their mothers would not be raped, their homes would not be destroyed, and their mosques would not be violated. Embrace peace and the rule of law and the Israelis will leave you alone. Do not force the Israelis to treat you like animals. They don't want to. They want to embrace you as the cousins that you truly are, and live side by side with you, in peace.

If a Muslim woman wants to dedicate herself to her home, that's fine, but when it's just the standard and there ISN'T a choice involved that's where the problem lies. It's in the choice to be able to do so, not the threatened obligation like in the Middle East.

Sadly enough, bias does play into trials. BUT that's why there are trials. It must take twelve people in American courts to convict someone and therefore a jury of your peers will convict or exonerate you. To be so blind as to say that EVERY single 12 person group is completely tainted is wholly illogical, as well as sad.

Humans are judgmental by nature, it's just the way it goes.

Islam is not the reason....it the people who take it to the extremes and use some of the teachings to get other to act in a bad way......for example....Jihad...muslims believe if you are killed in a holy war you go straight to heaven...so leaders throw that word around to get young people to throw their lives away....its not about religion its about a certian FEW who use that religion to gain more power and kill people....and I know there are more peacful muslims that terriosts....the bad part is you don't hear

Although we aren't close any more, a good friend of mine was a female muslim, her parents gave her the option of not covering her face or skin, and she chose not too. I don't have a problem with Muslims women looking after their homes, as long as it's *their* choice.

Lots of crimes are committed by Muslims, I'm sure, that you don't hear about in the news. It *is* a fact that most of the radical fanatics these days *are* Muslims. Why isn't there more outrage from moderate Muslims?
