It's not a swear word. It's an adjective used as an insult. It comes from the word a/s/s/ (donkey). Donkeys are known to be less than smart and often very stubborn. So if you call someone assinine you could mean stupid or stubborn.

Don't regard what the first answerer said; you spelled the word correctly. "Asinine" is NOT a swear word; it means "silly" or "ridiculous."
For instance, when I was in high school (mid 1980's), someone asked a graduating senior girl what her major was going to be. She said that "that was the most ASININE question you could ask a girl." She said that the only reason girls go to college is to meet guys and get married! She figured she'd join a sorority, meet frat guys, and get married in a year or two!
My response to this was that this girl had a very ASININE point of view! To believe, as late as the 1980's, that the only reason for a girl to go to college was to meet a husband! Now THAT is ASININE!

Hannah is wrong about the spelling. Your spelling is correct. Asinine is not a swear word, but it is an insult since it means very stupid.
