I heard today that they are talking to Florida about getting Gary Roberts. Also there was a report on Saturday in a Phoenix paper that the Penguins had a deal for Laraque. I haven't been able to find anything local on that though. They would definitely not trade Staal for a 40 year old, injury prone forward. Even if it is Gary Roberts. The rumor is Noah Welch for Roberts. Laraque, Phoenix wants a prospect and a 1st rounder for Laraque and a 2nd rounder.

I've heard the Staal rumor but theres no way it will happen. I think the rumor is one sided also, meaning the Hawks have said the only way they would give Seabrook up is for a young emerging star forward, in this case being Staal, and the Pens have said nothing about it. In the words of Stan Savarn (of FSN Pittsburgh) "if Ray Shero makes that trade he'd better be on the first Greyhound out of town".

I also don't like the Gary Roberts trade that reportedly just relies on him giving the ok. The Pens are not winning the cup this year and giving up youth (I've heard the name Noah Welch)for a 40 yr old rent-a-player doesn't make much sense to me.

The first guy has two rumors mixed up, they are Seabrook, a prospect, and high draft pick for Staal, and Gary Roberts for possibly Noah Welch or another prospect, or a pick.

The Panthers and Pens have a deal to ship Gary Roberts to Pittsburgh pending Gary waiving his no trade clause. He may not agree to...he really wants to go back to Toronto but who knows. There is the Laraque rumor and it seems likely to happen simply because he will come fairly cheap (likely a 3rd or 4th round pick or a midlevel prospect). The interesting one now is with Jordan Staal going to the Blackhawks for Brent Seabrook, a 1st round pick and another pick or minor leaguer. Crazy as it sounds to ship off such a talented young forward it really does make sense. They need a good young defenseman and Seabrook brings both size and an above average offensive game plus the pens have depth at forward so it is a deal that makes good sense for both sides.

Rumor has it that the Florida Panthers have agreed to send Gary Roberts to Pittsburgh in return for a young, unnamed player if Roberts will waive his no-trade clause. I have heard whispers of Jordan Staal going, but you know how trade rumors are.

If they trade Jordan Staal that's the dumbest thing i've heard lately and they better get a St. Louis or a Jordan Blake for Jordan Staal as for their needs they need a hard hitting defensman

The last I heard if Roberts doesn't want to go to Pittsburgh then the Pens may go after Guerin. Staal is not being shopped to get Roberts.

They need a tough guy to protect Sid. I sure hope these rumors about Jordan Staal are not true!
