This essay asks you to examine how Romeo's and Juliet's attitudes toward love and specifically their relationship are different as supported in Act II, Scene ii.

I need help thinking of a thesis and some areas of support for this essay.

Central idea example (cant use this though): In Act II, scene ii Of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is shown to be impulsive and impractical about love while Juliet is more reasonable and mature.

Any help is appreciated!
Thankss!!

Romeo is mentally unbalanced. He suffers from OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), and lacks self-control and maturity. He is an EXTREMELY talented fighter. He is also very good-looking, wealthy, and sensitive. Intellectually, he is brilliant. The combination is devastating. All women love him. All men admire him. BUT when he can't get what he wants, he cannot control himself.

Juliet's family is one of the wealthies and most powerful in the country. Yet he gets into Juliet's bedroom in the middle of the night -- and spends the night with her -- without anyone knowing. Later, Romeo kills Tyblat. Then Romeo kills Paris. He walks into Juliet's tomb in the middle of the night, without any fear at all -- he is only 16 yars old! He gets poison, illegally, from the apothecary with a brilliant mix of bargaining and threats. You can tell he is not thinking clearly, though. He already has a dagger (with which Juliet later kills herself). So he does not really need the poison.

So, basically Romeo is an arrogant little moron.

Well, to get to a good thesis statement you have to keep in mind (don't use these words--only to help you form a thesis statment)
What I know for sure is.... (and state your argument). Then when you make your point: reword it for a thesis statement without using "What I know for sure is."
And sometimes it helps to actually write a couple of body paragraphs so you can see the direction your paper is taking before you come up with a thesis statement.

Compare the Capulets and Montegues to modern gangs. They even wear gang colors. Talk about the mentality of people who join and belong to gangs. Compare that to the people in the play and how they join sides and will fight at the drop of a hat. Both sides are struggling for power and control in this Elizabethan turf war.

They base love on looks, that only. Notice how Benvolio says, "give liberty unto thine eyes". and when mercutio is teasing romeo about rosaline, he says something alone the lines of "remember her thigh?"
