They are correct (to a point) when they mention dissent as one of the most important of our freedoms and responsibilities. That being said, the concept of Loyal Opposition means that while they are free to disagree with policies of the sitting government, to openly call for defeat goes beyond dissent. It is sedition, plain and simple. Does nobody on the left see this?

lltrix: Perhaps YOU'RE not calling for a US defeat in the war, but many leftists are doing precisely that. They are so blinded by their hatred of the President that they are eager to see anything which would hamper the administration...even if it hurts the nation. That IS sedition.

I haven't seen too many people call for defeat. I've seen a lot of valid criticism of policies from the left, right, and the middle. This is not sedition. I've see a lot people on the right questioning the patriotism of those who criticize. Have they forgotten the concept of Loyal Opposition?

The current hostilities in Iraq represent an illegal action entered into under false pretenses. WMD anyone?
Ask yourself how we would feel about China having over 120 military bases scattered throughout the world, say in Canada and Mexico, or surrounding the oil pipelines of the Middle East?

I like seeing Bush's bills defeated, how is that sedition. Or are you talking about the war? That's different. We're not calling for defeat. We are saying Bush already failed in Iraq. What part of that don't you understand? And, what part of that is sedition? How is sending more soldiers into Iraq to become targets of Sunni's and Shiites patriotic? It's not, it's more of the same failed policy Bush started with in the first place.

If you would have questioned people name calling and using nothing constructive I would have agreed with you.. but the fact is that many of us do not see pulling out of Iraq as defeat.. we did what we set out to do.. even though many of us did not agree with that either... but still .. it's done.. there are no WMD's.. the whole reason we went there.... there's no Sadam.. the reason we stayed... now it's up to the Iraqi's.. we have no reason to be there.

I never said anything about wanting our nation defeated. I want our soldiers to stop dying in somebody else's civil war. Not lapping up every ounce of Bush pablum doesn't make me siditious, just intellectually curious.

Whisking a soldier from a meat grinder does not constitute "defeat"....more like sanity. Until a new strategy beyond "same old plus a surge" is worked out, this quagmire in Iraq is never-ending!
