gift cards, money. Have u ever wanted to take up an instrument or drawing. Ask for something creative like taking lessons in a favorite hobbies or something that u've always wanted to try. I'm tired of getting stuff as gifts because in a few weeks or months u now its just gonna be shoved and forgotten about in the closet. try something different like going to a spa, theater ticket to see Blue Man group, a sports game, or something really cool that sounds fun and exiting. What about pets? Or tickets to see ur favorite band in concert. Even ask for a mini vacation for a weekend at... Where ever u want to go. Have fun Its ur special day! Go to ur favorite food joint. Go see the movie u've been dying to see. Ask ur friends and or family member something u've always wanted then to teach u. U know, something u see them do and u say "how do they do that". If u have older sibling ask them stuff like "whens the best time to talk or sweet talk ur parent about something u want. Happy Birthday kid and have fun! My birthday just past January 23. I'm 24 and I asked to go to a comedy club. It was a blast! I always try to look for events to go to for my birthday. Best wished and make ur wish a good one when u blow out the candle! ]=: That's a sideways birthday cake, in case u can't tell.

As far as TCG's go you cant go wrong with Magic the gathering. I also hear that Warcraft has a good TCG out right now as well. People also seem to be getting into Hero Clix which isnt a TCG but fairly close you use actual figures instead of cards.

When my boy turned 12, he was not into sports either [ watching football was all he liked ] but not playing.
I took him to a hobby store and he got interested in Model Cars and Ships. Now at 40 he loves showing them off to his grandchildren.
Maybe you can get your folks to take you to a Hobby Shop and look around, there is so much you can find and do there.

Happy Birthday and Good Luck...

1) A fishing book, such as "John Bailey's Complete Guide to Fishing" http://www.amazon.com/John-Baileys-Complete-Guide-Fishing/dp/1859747353/sr=8-2/qid=1172530293/ref=sr_1_2/102-9611151-8409713?ie=UTF8&s=books
Can be fun once you get into it + start catching, and doesn't require as much effort as other sports.

2) A Fuji Finepix A700 Digital Camera
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/fuji_a700.html
Takes both still images + video clips, and a good camera to start learning photography with (and you wouldn't believe how much money girls will pay you to take pictures of them without many clothes on if you get good enough at taking pictures to turn professional when you're older.. or failing that getting paid to photograph various events) + you can show your efforts off at sites like this: http://www.thephotographersworkshop.com/photographer.asp?S={B7C6EADD-B849-44EA-B829-A1CB0D57FB30}&MemberID=23302

3) A Nintendo DS / DS Lite (if you ain't already got one) + the OPERA Wi-Fi browser cartridge for it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_Browser

There's also an MP3 player cartridge for it as well
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_MP3_Player

4) Some stuff to get started in N-Gauge / N-Scale model railways

You can't go wrong with gift cards - or even better, cold hard cash.
Another idea you could try: have you ever thought about those large scale Lego kits? They're actually pretty fun to put together and display. Happy Birthday!

Do you like board games or cooking? What about wood working? Maybe a male figure in your life can teach you something mechanical or how to carve wood. My brother loved that for his 12th birthday. Have a great birthday!

Magic: the Gathering is pretty popular, you might want to try that. Visit Wizards's site for cool trading card games. they are the leaders in that field.
