Life seems to be all about survival. I need something to make me want to keep going. What do you do when your in need of emotional fulfilment? I just feel like I have no purpose; I need to do something productive with my life, but I have no idea where to begin...

That's a difficult and personal question. Too much depends on your inclinations as an individual: likes, abilities, views, perceptions, reasons, etc...could go on for ever.

As a main and most important rule, go with your instincts. Look at what you want to achieve, what you enjoy and draw most satisfaction from, where you might see yourself in the future. Set your goals and stick to them. No good doing something because it's convenient, easy or available. The only vibe I got from your post (I may be wrong...!) is that you seem abitious yet confused and unsatisfied.
Find what rocks you and just do it!

You make a mistake in assuming someone else can tell you what life really is.

They can't. You have to derive meaning and purpose in life from within YOURSELF, not from anyone else. Don't wait for someone else to hold your hand and tell you want you want to hear. You must build the strength between your mind and soul before you're going to find any real meaning in life.

Where do you begin? There are many different places. You should be able to find a beginning if you search hard enough. Don't live your life as a slave. Start doing things you want to do, not what you're supposed to do or what other people want you to do. Identify parts of your life that feel incomplete and fill them. Branch out and explore the world, and as you begin to build a deeper philosophy of your existance you will eventually come to terms with why you are here.

wurm say: Hey TC, wuts up? I like your question; it
sounds like you're being serious here, so I'll give
you a serious answer. First off, you're quite right:
Life IS about survival. Think of it as your primary
job in life. But life is more than just your job.
You need a purpose too; something that you can look
forward to doing or accomplishing. Of course, there
are many things you can do to that end. It mostly
depends on your personal tastes and abilities. If you
like to think and write *and* help people, I would
suggest that you take up the study of philosophy in a
serious way. Become a philosopher! :) I don't mean in
the formal and academic sense either; I mean a *real*
philosopher who can talk to all kinds of people, most
of whom will have no idea that your main purpose in
life is to go around injecting everybody you meet
with a healthy dose of philosophical reasoning! There
is a serious shortage of such people, and the World
badly needs them; even if most people know it not.
Take up the most noble cause, & fight the good fight.
Become one of Sophia's worthy champions!

Ok I was in the same position as you are but right now, the thing that works for me is to focus on some-one else who is less fortunate than i am and try to help that person. When u place lass emphasis on yourself and more you get more satisfaction. And before you know it you are helping both yourself and the other person. Yourself in the emotional way and the person in both the emotional and physical way. Be thankful for the little things in your life for example, being able to breathe on your own, some people need an oxygen tank, have a roof over your head, some people are homeless. I am not telling you to take joy in other people's misfortunes, just that you should be thankful for yours and help somebody else and then you will see your purpose in this life. Try it and you will see the erndless possibilities.

Your purpose is what you stand for, the belief concept we live by. When you look in the mirror who do you see, not who you want society ( humanity )to see, the real you is the purpose that describes your passion and what you want to accomplish in your life.

The Meaning of Life is To Give Life.

For The Meaning of Life is the answer to this question:

God, what is Your purpose of Existence?

For God's purpose of Existence itself defines the purpose of all that exists.

I asked God that question...

God answered, "My purpose of Existence is To give life. Since you are made in My image after My likeness, then YOUR purpose of existence is to give life."

Everything that exists is an expression of God's thinking; thus, everything reflects God's thinking.

God gives life by His unique existence, and receives life when He gives life. All of existence gives life by its unique existence to that which receives life from its unique existence. This is Nature - the union of all living (eternal) things.

You are here to give life by your unique existence to that which receives life from your unique existence. So do what you love that nourishes those who love what you love.

This is your purpose.

To give life.

E-mail me with your phone number. That is your purpose in life -- to get to know me and to be my friend.
