They are effectively the same.

Laptop was an industry term that was applied to a portable computer that was small enough to be used in your lap. It was also a bit of a play on words when comparing it to a "desktop" system.

The term Notebook came later when the Laptops became small enough to be compared in size to a notebook.

They are the same thing.. A laptop is generally referred to as a notebook because it is almost the size of a, well,notebook : )

there is no difference a notebook is a laptop they just call it laptop because you can use it on your lap.
