me and my friend like to play board games during the week, since im grounded from board games. i like strategy games, and some board games (there aren't many) with rpg elements.

You might try Richard Borg's Command & Colors series. The game features easy-to-learn rules adapted to various eras:
Ancients by GMT Games, Battle-Cry! (the American Civil War) by Avalon Hill (now out of print), Memoir '44 by Days of Wonder (WWII) and BattleLore by Days of Wonder (medieval fantasy).

Have you ever tried "Settlers of Catan"? My husband loves Risk and "Settlers" is one of his favorites too! Enjoy! :)
