Yes - you need the 'deluxe' X360 and you have to go online to download the patch for each game, but most of the original XBox games are supposed to be playable.

It's yes and no. Yes, you can play SOME XBX games on the 360. NO, you can't play ALL XBX games on the 360.

Just go to www.xbox.com, and do a backward compatibility search. Navigate around until you find the link that lists all the XBX games that are playable on the 360 (I think the guy above me has the link). If a game is on that list, then you can play it provided that you meet the following requirements:

1. You must have a hard drive. No hard drive, no XBX games on the 360.

2. You must download and install the latest patch from X-Box Live. If you have XBL, then you know the 360 will automatically check for updates and ask you if you want to install it. So click yes.

as hardly any xbox games about now to play on the 360 and the 360 games are expensive i brought a ps2 ,all ps1/2 games work on that !!

Yes and No, some games work (most of them do) but other games like counter-strike do not work. Older games ussually dont work

yes but not all games and you can download patchs for games so they do work but some still don't work e.g. Burnout revenge.
good news though Halo and Halo2 you can play
