This is one of a math problem my daughter brought home with from school.

The "value" of 2 in this number can be thought of as place value. The 2 is in the 10's place. If you have 2 of them, then the value is 20.

the value is 20 because what you do is everything after the number (2) turns into zero which makes it 20. Here is another example :
what is the value of the 4? 874,869,051
so what you do is take the 4 and everything after it becomes a zero (4,000,000) which the value of 4 is then 4 million
