Do the 'favorites' and 'pictures' saved on my computer take up a lot of space?

Alot of people are recommending you delete them and store them on CDs. This is fine, but be sure to refresh your backups every so often. Update them periodically and re-burn them. Personally, I would recommend an additional hard drive, in addition to the backups. They're not too expensive nowadays..

The favorites don't take up much at all...very minimal. The pictures can take up a lot depending on how many you have and how big they are. If you are low on hard drive space, cleaning off your pictures could be a way to free up a good chunk. Just burn them to a CD then remove them.

Favorites use very little space (like 1 KB each).
Pictures, on the other hand, can use up a lot of space. (How much space they use depends on how big they are--4"x6" would take up more space than 3"x5".)

If you need the hard drive space they occupy, burn them to a CD or copy them to a USB drive (a.k.a. "Thumb Drive"). Then, AFTER MAKING SURE THEY ALL GOT BURNED/COPIED SUCCESSFULLY, delete them from your hard drive.

(You could also compress them using WinZip or a similar program.)

Well, without knowing what you have on your computer - this can't be answered reliably.
Favorites are unlikely to take up any appreciable space.
Photos on the other hand may very well take up a lot of space if you have a lot of photos.

pictures on the other hand can take up a lot of space (depending on how many you have)... if your worried about space, burn them to a cd

Depends on size of the images, but not alot of space is taken up. 100 jpegs=500kb of space if they are HUGE images might be 150mb,
Favorites take up very little space, they are 5kb or so.
100 faves=500kb
Defrag often, make backups regular, it will all work.
