How do I prevent the doors on my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant from locking automatically?

Sometimes when I have my car running but I am not in it (because I am scraping ice from the windows or I had to get out to check the mail) the doors will automatically lock. I keep a spare key, however, how do I prevent my doors from automatically locking when I don't want them to?
