You should do what you want to do. It's not they're life they shouldnt be making the decisions for you when it's your responsibility to make those decisions for yourself. You should really major into one that you really enjoy doing and you know that you wont get bored with.

Although I think you are at the age where you should be making your own decisions, in this case I think your parents are right. Apollo College is a degree mill. The school is designed to be for profit and is actually a technical school, not a real college. Your parents are probably wanting you to get credits at MCC because if you do not know what you want to do yet, you may decide on something that can only be attained by going to a university, which will accept transfer credits from MCC, but not Apollo. If you do decide to be a massage therapist, then you may as well go to Apollo. Perhaps your parents are wanting you to go to MCC so you can explore other career options that may be related to your fields of interest. You should speak with a guidance counselor at your high school or go to MCC (don't go to Apollo, they want your money, MCC is government funded and does not profit off of you) and speak with a guidance or career counselor there. They will be the most honest about what path you should take.

So many questions...Is MCC college closer to home than Apollo? Is that why your parents want you to go there? Are they paying for it? A florist or a massage therapist? I bet that you could do both, actually. Florist by day and earn extra money as a massage therapist at night or on the weekends. Telll your parents that you love them, but that this is your road to travel. Good Luck!

I don't know either college, and I don't know which career you are more likely to find success in, but no matter what career you choose, consider that the trainer or the teacher always has more credibility than even the specialist. Hold out for some kind of teaching credentials or certificate. It won't stop you from doing anything, but if you can't get a job doing anything else, they always need teachers. You can even give private lessons or work for a local communikty College until your business gets off the ground. HAve you talked to your school counselor about both colleges? Which one has the best reputation. Which college has reciprocal credits with the local University? What is the job placement level for each college? Which one is mopre likely to put you to work at a rate of pay that will enable you to pay off your student loans and still eat something better than Ramen and Rice? Which College is the one your parents would be more likely to help you with? This is a real consideration now that tuition rates are raising, sometimes quarterly! What kind of services do each college offer? Does the college have counseling, health services, enrichment programs, budget counselors etc.? There are a lot of supposed colleges that take your money, dump you in an apartment with four to six other students, then blame you because you flunked out in your first semester. Meanwhile you have a twenty to fifty thousand debt to pay and your burger flipping job isn't making ends meet. Some colleges put you in the same situation even after you graduate. My son has friends who manage restaurants after getting their graphic design degrees with honors. Be careful and don't automatically assume that your parents are wrong just because they are your parents. They had enough foresight to have you didn't they?
