i have heard that there are a few esscentials you should take with you to the hospital when you go into labor.
When pads are listed what kind do they mean because i doubt my old regular ones will work with the blood, but i hear there are special kinds, i can't seem to find any more information on anything about them, if anyone could please give me an example of the kinds of pads that work the best and what brand, it will be really helpful.

Whatever you would use for a heavy period will be fine. I took always overnights to the hospital with me.

There are speacial pads designed for the heavy flow after childbirth. I cant remember what they are called but just go have a look in your supermarket in the ladies hygyene section and you should find them.
If you are unable to find them then the night time/heavy flow ones work just as well.
I suggest to buy a couple of packets and also some regular ones as it tapers off. You dont really feel like going and figuring it all out after just having a baby. So having a few packets to suit all flows is good.
And if you dont use them then they are great for emergencies or the next time you have a baby.
ETA: Yes the hospital does provide them, but I found them really gross and uncomfortable and felt much happier and at ease in my own underwear with my own pads.

The hospital will provide you with disposable underwear and large pads immediately after delivery and throughout your stay. I'm assuming that they are recommending that you bring your own pads for after the heaviest of blood/clots passes. For some, myself included, I didn't need the heavy-duty pads provided by the hospital two days after delivery and felt more comfortable using my regular brand (that I would use for periods).

The pads the hospital uses are very large and similar to something you might find in the incontinence section of the drugstore. However, I do not think that you need to purchase and take those with you. I'm most certain that the hospital will have an adequate supply for you.

Hope this helps!

I have used both overnight maxis and the serenity pads sold for incontinence. You really need a bigger, more absorbant pad for the first few days, but years ago, when I had my babies, the hospital provided what I needed.

I also packed extra strength tylenol so I could take it on schedule without calling a nurse in and it saved $$ on my insurance. My childbirth educator recommended this.

Congratulations and have a happy, healthy delivery!

Just find the extra absorbent and extra long(like the night time versions..) Most hospitals will provide you with some but most are huge and feel like a diaper..tampons are obviously a no-no..
I highly recommend those Tucks pads..yes the ones used for hemorrhoids..you will be sore and swollen there and a couple put on your pad will make a huge difference! good luck

Get any brand extra long overnight ones. But at first you will want to use the ones the hospital gives you with ice packs in them.

You'll want the biggest pads out there. I wouldn't go crazy yet--buy one pack at most. The hospital will give you TONS of 'em when you need them.
