they give IUD's to ppl that are not at risk for "sleeping around". If you are in a monogomous relationship and have not had a lot of sex partners, they will give it to you.
I have one.. I loooove it. its for 10 years... and no hormonal side effects or worrying about blood clots or anything.. its the closest thing to being sterile..except if i decide to have a baby, i can get it taken out and get pregnant the next day if i wanted.

I have Mirena IUD. I love it. I am using it as birth control but not having painful heavy periods is a bonus. Expect to have off and on spotting for the first few months, but stick it out it is worth it.

I was on oral birth control, and it made me crazy. I've talked to a lot of women about this, and hormonal birth control sucks for the woman. I would recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It helps you to manage the times you are fertile and then you just don't have sex then. The Fertility Awareness Method also doesn't kill your sex drive, make you hormonal, make you gain weight, or do any of those other nasty things that hormonal birth control does.

I thought they were cutting way down on using IUD's, my health teacher told us that they were causing radical infections so they are about to be outlawed or something, I really don't know what to think, she's kind of a nut-case.
