Yes I was a brownie as well as a girl guide, I loved the freedom of been away from my brothers, going on nature walks and camping when I went into the guides, I became a cub leader for one of our local church groups but gave up a few years after I got married because of work commitments.

I went to Brownies and Guides - It was a while ago so I don't remember that much - I'm 40 now. I still have my guide uniform with all my badges on the arm!. I guess it is the comraderie, the achieving of things - it gives kids a good grounding for life in general. I don't have children but if I did, they would be going to guides or cubs!

Cub scouts and boy scouts.
In cub scouts, I liked learning and leading. Since I caught onto things quick, I'd end up teaching the others.
In boy scouts, I was much less of a leader. I was just in it for the monthly camping trip (it was an active troop).

I was a brownie, then a girl guide. A patrol leader actually lol. The best day was when we went on a nature walk to bring back 'nature' items. My patrol, who were a bit like the patrol from hell, brought back dead insects, sheep pooh, and the like.
But mostly we enjoyed waiting at the end of the road, until the scouts finished and walking home with them with their sexy lil woggles.

I used to be a scout, my dad made me go.
I hated it there, the leader looked like a pedophile (and probably was). I didn't like being ordered about or showing respect to some old git dressed like a fascist.
The other scouts picked on me, I reacted and I was the one who got in trouble. The adults used to send me outside to the trophy room a lot for bad behavior.
I told my parents I hated it but they made me go so I did all I could to get myself chucked out.
I was a member for about 2 months then left when I was about to be thrown out for causing trouble: fighting with other scouts, breaking things, disrespectful behavior (which included telling the leader to **** off and turning the portrait of baden powell upside down)
