I bought this laptop about 7 months ago. I burn a lot of cd's. I'm not sure what the problem is. But if anyone has any ideas where in i can fix this without going to a repair shop.. it would be awesome!!

Clicking = imminent death
sounds like the drives optical read-heads are outta wack
you say you burn a lot of CD's so that could be the problem... you've used it to death
don't concern yourself with "fixing" it... the cost of a new one is gonna be far cheaper than fixing it

Try playing different CDs before concluding that the CD Drive is at fault. Try playing a media that you know plays for sure.

If indeed the CD Drive is the problem: try using CD cleaning devices. These are available at Bestbuy or Circuit City.

If the drive still is a problem, then it may require a replacement. If you are good with computers, you may be able to replace the drive yourself. It is not too difficult and you can save a lot of dollars by ordering for a compatible drive online and replacing it yourself.

Try a different CD first and if dont work you chit out of luck time for a new cd driver

Forget it! save yourself a load of heartache and just go buy a new drive from your local PC shop

As bigstep says, unfortunately your drive is borked, and spending is necessary.
