Hmmm from the way you've asked your question, I have a feeling you aren't going to have the money to spend for that sort of advertising, but I could be wrong. Just keep in mind, advertising on google could be *expensive* if you want to advertise for any useful length of time. I am no expert, however, so I would recommend going to google's site and doing the research yourself.

Have you thought about letting other sites advertise on your site? It could help generate some income to compensate for the money you'd have to spend to advertise on google, and as people come to your site from google, they would see the sites you advertise and possibly then go to them. The people's sites you advertise would benefit from your advertisement on google, which you may be able to get without losing money because of what you'd be making. However, depending on your site's audience, this could be a bad idea because sometimes, it just depreciates a site to have advertisements on it. They're not very aesthetically pleasing and may just hurt you in the end. But look into it, it could help you. Good luck!

If you are talking about a commercial site you can still get listed for free. All of these can be submitted through Google, Yahoo! and others.

If you are using a host for your site, they should have a free submission application for you to submit your site to Yahoo!, Google and others. At least the hosting site I use has a submission service for webmasters that use their service.
