Al Gore uses Green power, so he actually does less damage to the environment.

As usual the right wing figures that nobody in the United States has any idea about College Reasoning. Clearly if I had a house 20 times the size of mine with extra security measures and swimming pool, then I would have to use 20 times more power than I do now. But, the point is not how much power is being used with regard to the "Inconvenient Truth," but how that power is generated.
The Greater Nashville Electric Power Service does provide "Green Power" in increments that can add up to 100% if one is willing and able to pay the extra 8%. From the information I have, Gore is willing and able to pay that what amounts to twice the rate that I would pay without going "green." But, the use of fossil fuels for generating that power is less.
What Drudge needs to compare is the compensation of CEOs to the average wages of workers. But, I don't see or hear that from him. I don't know why people need to live in giant mansions, he doesn't begrudge CEOs who are getting millions of dollars in compensation from corporations whose wealth is produced by its workers from living in these things. Who's the hypocrite?

This is the power Gore buys for his house. His bill is higher in part, to the tune of $432 A MONTH because he buys this clean energy. From the Nashville Electric web site.:
Making the Green Power Switch® is easy. This renewable energy initiative offers our customers a choice in the type of power they buy. What is green power? Green power is electricity generated from clean, renewable resources such as solar, wind and methane gas.

It's pretty hypocritical for liberals to use electricity AT ALL. They're supposed to eat cold veggies and live in a tent and whine about the war (leaving the real world to grown ups to run).

And I don't want to hear any bs about how he runs his foundation and studios out of his mansion. If that;s the case, he's not paying enough attention to appearances. He's rich - just outsource that stuff and bingo you have a reasonable electric bill.

Sorry to pop your bubble but the drudgereport is nothing but lies and tabloid bullsh*t. That has been proven. No self respecting journalist or news resource uses this site as a viable information source. Try another site that actually has integrity and is a news column, not opinion. BTW, Al Gore and his family drive hybrids.

Sarcasm Queen, your link is an opinion from a writer from the Cato institute. It has nothing to do with global warming and the author isn't a scientist. Anyone can write an opinion piece, but it doesn't mean they are an expert on the subject they have an opinion about. He isn't a scientist nor does he site scientists to uphold his argument. Gore has 100's of scientists that back him up and helped him with his presentation.

quotes from teh article ...

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

hmmmmmm.....

1. Gore purchases enough ‘green-power’ to balance 100% of his power bill (green power which includes solar, wind, and methane gas).

2. Al participates in a utility program which sells off blocks of “green-power”, purchasing in excess of 16,200 kilowatts every month.

3. The Gore house is currently under renovation to install solar panels to help further satisfy its power consumption.

Furthermore, for every ton of carbon Gore does produce (airplane / car trips, etc.), he offsets those by investing directly in renewable energy sources.

What does it matter? There's no such thing as Global Warming anyway. Like when Al Gore admitted he exaggerated the facts in 'An Inconvienient Truth'?

Yeah, that makes us trust him so much. Not.

Actually, this is fairly simple.

Basically, he pays a ton for his power bill because it's green energy. I looked at the Drudge Report article, and he's pulling down 18,000 kwh per month on average.

Now, price varies state to state on power, but here in Florida our business coincidently pulls down a similar amount - about 17,000 kwh per month. We pay about $1,800 per month.

Again, according to the article, Gore is paying about $2,500 per month. Jesus! He's paying a huge premium for that green energy. It's not hypocritical, he's paying out the ying-yang to do his part in keeping carbon emissions down.
