Okay, question one, what do you do to prevent it? Answer- try a hot bath, heating pad on the stomach, take a short walk, eat a piece of chocolate, drink some warm tea with milk.
Question two, when can I start using tampons? Answer- whenever you feel ready. I didn't use one for a while, and honestly prefer pads, simpler.
Question three, how do you put them in? Answer- just relax. There should be some sort of instructions in the box, so follow those, but don't get stressed, that makes it a lot harder.
Question four, soaks through at night? Answer- get the long, maxi, overnight pads. I like always overnights, no wings (in an orange container). Try to avoid sleeping on your back, you're more likely to leak that way.
Question five, can you take a shower? Answer- yes! Try to go quickly, and make sure you wash thoroughly. When you get out, don't just stand there, hurry up drying so you can get on some underwear and stuff.
Oh yeah, and I've read the other ones! BAD idea to wear a tampon at night if you sleep more than about 6-8 hours, it can cause TSS

OK i would suggest taking something but if you dont want to....put a heating pad on your tummy, that should help. Also curl up in a ball, it sounds funny but it helps. You can use tampons whenever you are ready. If you are "flowing" heavily us a super if its not so heavy use a light. When you open the tampon box it will give you instructions on how to use them. Some girls dont like the feeling of tampons and others wouldnt use anything else. If you wear pads at night get longer ones, that will protect your undies and the bed. Yes you can take a shower while on your period, and even a bath, the bleeding will usually stop. Wear a tampon if you want while in the shower or tub. I hope my answer helps some. Well, there are many ways to "tough" it out. Mostly, just try laying down and when you take a shower or bath, which you can, make sure the water isn't too hot or the contractions in yuor uterus will get really intense. There's really no way to prevent the pain, you just have to deal with it. Curling up in the fetal position helps and stay away from coffee and chocolate--not good with the pain. As for using tampons, you can start using them whenever you feel comfortable. If you want to start using them, then go ahead and do so. As for how to put them in, there are very detailed instructions in the box that will help. It may take a few tries to get it in for the first time, but practice makes perfect. Make sure you get the ultra-slim ones for your first time and change them every 4 hours or so, and never use them overnight or where white with them. For extra protection, wear an ultr-thin pad so that if it drips, it'll do so on the pad. As for at night, get the really big chunky pads that feel like diapers, they'll say they're for overnight, they almost never soak through. Good luck--the first year is the hardest, but you usually get used to it.

I believe if you exercise alittle, it can help stop the cramps. Perhaps even if you jogged in place for 5 minutes you'll feel better.
As for tampons, you'll know when your ready. Usually it'll tell you how to insert a tampon on the box but if you're weary about that then its easy! If it has a plastic application then insert it up to the end part where it has little grips and then push the long plastic part up so that that pushes the tampon out of the plastic applicator and into.. you.
For your nighttime problems, you should NEVER use a tampon at night. There are special made pads made for night use, and they usually have flaps that you can stick you your panties so the pad doesnt move around.
..and yes, I dont see why you cant take a shower, silly!

My grandma told me that bananas help relieve the cramps. I dont like to use medicine either so i just tough it out. You can use tampons anytime. There is a booklet in the box that shows you how to use them and I think there is even a hotline number you can call. You need to make sure you get the right size tampon in relation to the flow of your period. You dont want to get a super tampon when your flow is light nor a "light" tampon when your flow is heavy. If you want to stay soak free at night, I suggest a tampon and a pad. You can take a shower if you have a tampon in. .you can go swimming too!!

For bloating I can't really help you out because I just deal with it.
For cramping try sitting or laying in different positions.
You can start using tampons whenever you want if you feel comfortable. There should be directions in or on the box.
When you go to bed use a larger pad and if you are using tampons you can also use a tampon if you are bleeding super heavy. I also sleep on top of a towel so I won't wreck my sheets. I have old messed up underwear that I wear when I am on my period so I won't mess up my nice undies.
You can definitely shower when you are on your period. A warm shower might also help with cramps. When you shower you will feel clean and refreshed and more energized and that will make you feel better when you are on your period.

I normally never answer these things but you seem really confused and misguided.
First of all, there is really no reason to not want to take medicine. There is nothing bad that can come from it at all. If you don't want to take medicine, that is your problem.
Secondly, you can use tampons whenever you feel like it. They are cleaner and you can play sports and swim in them. The directions are in the box.
As for the night problem, you should be wearing a pad and that should take care of it. Additionally, you might want to get up in the middle of the night and change pads then. Also sometimes super long pads help too.
And you can take a shower. No problem with that.
Even though you don't want to hear this, you should tell you mom. Everyone has to do it and it will be over before you know it. You can make it short, sweet and to the point so it is less embarrassing for you. You could also try writing a note to her where you know she and no one else will find it. You really, really, really, really should tell her. It's kind of weird that you are more willing to take advice from strangers than her. She will have all of the answers for you and she will notice her protection supply going down eventually, so she will know anyways.

Ok, you don't want to take any medicine, I can respect that - but it's going to be tough. For pain you can use a heating pad. For the bloat try drinking tea, it's a diuretic & might help.
When can you start using tampons - I think 12, but if you are younger you can do it. Tampax even makes one for young girls. Tampons have instructions in the box. Be very careful as you can tear your hymen & that hurts. For night-time, wear a tampon and a pad. Do not leave a tampon in for more than 4 hours. You can always take a shower. Now, as for MOM - does she know you have started? This is a wonderful time for you & it should be celebrated. Congratulations!

Well, from my experience, I realised that sometimes when I'm having my period, I will crave for sugary or sweet stuff and that gives me really bad cramps. You can observe your eating patterns around this time and identify the kinds of things your body craves, try to find out if it causes some of these cramps and avoid them to see if they will stop.
You can start using tampons at any time you want, but first begin with the smaller sized ones till you get to your level of comfort.
To put them in, squat or assume a sitting position, this can be over the toilet seat, and insert the tampon, following the instructions on the package.

When you don't want to tough it out anymore get a prescription for naproxen.
For now, use a heating pad, get plenty of calcium (drink milk), get those self-heating pads for cramps and stick it in the top of your undies, lay in fetal position, use huge pads at night.
When ready for tampons, make sure you are squatting or have a foot on the toilet when inserting. Try twisting it around in a circular motion if you have trouble getting it in. Or an in and out a little at a time motion.
Showers help a lot! The blood stops when water hits it usually.
