I don't know this hotel, but , firstly, the tour company has some terms and conditions, so you need to check these.

Then you need to make sure that you have been fairly treated. Is the value of the new hotel, better or worse or the same. You can check this by looking at it's star rating and comparable hotels.

If there are any issues, listen to your tour company/ travel agent and concentrate on the truth o form a view. Here's some links that may help you research this some more:

The Official Tourism Office of Mauritius:

http://www.tourismrankings.com/Mauritius/

Some comparable hotels with pictures, prices , star ratings and locations.

I hope this helps you

Good luck and have a happy trip to Mauritius

Both of these hotels are members of the Beachcomber Hotel Group. They are both located in the same part of the island, in the north (Grande Baie) area. Both are 4 star hotels. They are quite similar in value and in price. These hotels are often interchangable as they both have similar all inclusive packages and are basically owned by the same hotel chain. I don't think that you will be disappointed with The Cannonier.
In late June the weather is cooling down, it is kind of the autumn weather in Mauritius as it is their winter in July and August. Since winters in Mauritius are not that cold, you will still have plenty of sunshine, just not as hot and humid as usual.
I personally like the Grande Baie area where your hotel is located. There is a fair amount of boutique shopping in Grande Baie, they also have a market which is generally cheaper than the boutiques (but you have to barter). Good restaurants as well.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and have fun in Mauritius!

To see photos of both of these hotels:
Le Mauricia - www.lemauricia-hotel.com
Le Canonnier - www.lecanonnier-hotel.com

Both of these sites are in French (Mauritians speak French Creole), but both sites have pics on the first page. When you open the page, the name of the hotel comes up first then a pic. Wait a second on the pic and it will change to another. For Le Canonnier there is a short power point of 5 pics and for Le Mauricia, there are 4. I personally think Le Canonnier looks a little nicer.

I have been to both on holidays with my family, and I can tell you I prefer Le canonnier. Le Mauritia seem more prestigious, but Le Canonnier has outstanding service, very firendly staff, in fact, you will feel like a star, with everyone greeting you by your name. The beach and pool are very nice, the food is excellent, it is a paradise place to get married. Go for it and do not worry. Maybe you can push the hotel to give you a suite or a beach view top floor room to compensate, but really both are similar standards and standing. congratulations!

Stayed at the veranda Grand Baie in November 2006...Bloody abysmal! We felt we had stepped back in time to the Raj rule of India..!
We were moved to the Palmar Beach Resort in Belle mare .......( where we should have been in the first place) which was Excellent...Check out the hotel & area before going as some beaches are a laugh( ours in Grand Baie was concrete covered in some sand)

Make sure you use www.tripadvisor.com

we use it where ever we go and it is invaluable for hotel reviews.(I have had a quick look for you, doesnt seem too bad!!)

hope it helps and have a fabby time ( off to Cuba myself..prefer the carribean!!)
