i have never understood why the bbc have the right to charge a license fee as no other country in the world makes anyone pay. What if you dont like what the BBC produce? If they want to generate revenue they should do what all other tv companies do and take money from advertising

The licence fee should be scrapped - I resent paying for BBC through my SKY subscription then having to pay again through the licence fee - it is out-dated, out of touch and obselete in the extreme. It's time the BBC stood on it's own 2 feet and made it'self self sufficient.

The BBC throws money about like there's no tomorrow....waste ,waste ,waste. They must have been to the same school as the Labour party. The licence and the channel should be scrapped.

I think the licence should be scrapped and the BBC pay for itself, there is no longer any justification for this TV tax. The programmes they're churning out are certainly no better than the rest.

Lynne and Maria, can I suggest that you do your research as many (mainly European) countries still have TV Licences!

Wandering Blade, you do not pay for the BBC through your Sky Subscription!

I'm personally undecided about whether the Licence fee should be scrapped or not.

I feel that the licence fee is fair, i dont know about the rest of you but i feel the content on the BBC is of a high caliber and their documentaries are some of the best around. The best thing about the beeb is that there are no damn adverts every 15 mins and this in it self is worth the licenece fee.

There is less and less reason to keep this system - the programming isn't any better than anywhere else - just cheap celebrity TV and self righteous broadcasting. They should have to live in the real world like everyone else.

The adverts are better than the programmes half the time anyway.

this poll tax should be scrapped, the BBC can only get away with this because the decent people fear the consequences of not buying one - i have suggested a peaceful protest outside the BBC but am looked at like a mad woman, when people are ready to unite and stand together - then we will be able to get rid of it - together

when you are ready - so am i!!

If it was voluntary nobody would pay it, the BBC would fold, and you would get petitions to the PM demanding that he save the BBC.

That's the Great British Public for you. We want it all, and we want it cheap.

i think we should have a choice if we buy a TV whether to have BBC or not because they are making us pay for something most of us don't watch and also have you seen the amount of placement ads they have on their shows
