As a healthcare provider I can tell you that the answer to this question is very individual. It depends on how far along the pregnancy was, when do you think you miscarried, did you actually see the "products of conception" (a blood test can measure the quanitative HCG which should be elevated with pregnancy and it can then be repeated later to see if quanities have decreased...meaning a pregnancy discontinued), do you or did you have pelvic pain, have you had ongoing bleeding or spotting? At most, a pelvic ultrasound may be needed or a D&C (where the lining of the womb is evacuated). All in all, its possible that if the pregnancy was lost and there is no continued spotting and there is no pain......the healthcare providers do nothing. Your body has taken care of it....as most healthy bodies do. God has provided women's bodies to prepare for such outcomes and usually the body does a good job. What I do in such an instance is determine if it was an unwanted pregnancy and do more informing of birth control methods.

Following a miscarriage, it is advisable to take it easy and rest for a couple of days. It will help if the woman has someone she trusts with her, so that she can talk openly about her feelings. After a couple of days it is often helpful to return to a normal daily routine.

After a miscarriage a woman might experience headaches or have trouble sleeping. She may also experience lack of appetite and fatigue.

Many women feel anger and sadness after a miscarriage, while many others experience a strong sense of guilt, even though it is not their fault. These are all natural reactions.

A miscarriage can be frightening, confusing and depressing. It is natural to feel grief over the loss of a child. Women should not let people ignore or belittle what they have been through. The people they choose to talk to must be prepared to listen to what they have experienced and deal with the strong emotions involved.

Any woman who finds it too difficult to deal with her grief, or who continues to feel depressed, should consult her doctor for further help.

I had a miscarriage two years ago. I spent awhile in the hospital because the doctors weren't sure what was going on with my baby. I was only 2 and half months along, and by the time I went to the hospital, I had essentially bled everything out.

There is a possiblity for a DNC which means that they may have to clean out your uterus. But that is only in cases of incomplete miscarriages. As with me, they may not have to do the procedure.

However, it is very important for your health to go to the hospital and make sure that eveyrthing is alright.

Depends how far the pregnancy is,
I had one at 9 weeks and I'd lost too much fluid,
I needed to be on a drip,
I then had to have a scan to check if the m/c was complete,
It wasn't so I had a d&c which is where they remove the 'retained products' as they call it, I found that phrase deeply upsetting.
It's done under general aneasthetic so you won't know whats happening,
Afterwards you feel slight cramping for a few hours.
If the m/c is complete they send you home and let you get on with it.

They will give you a D&C to make sure everything is out of you... And if you're asking on here, my advice to you is hurry up and go to the hospital...miscarriages have serious complications if not treated immediately.

If you're having it removed, they'll perform abortion procedures on you, like D&C or D&E. Then they'll send you a bill for thousands of dollars. Do it naturally if you want to save a lot of money.
