i've seen the movie purple rain and i've heard the song. he does stuff to hert his friends and family and at the end he sings the song. its talking about hes sorry for herting them.

I'm not a Prince fan and I don't know what the song means because when I heard it I felt the same way you do, I think he is weird and over-rated
