I was recently wondering about purchasing an Ipod. The one thing I'm not sure about is to get the latest (the fifth generation) or wait till the new one comes out. Anyone have any suggestions?

the fifth generation ipods are great. the only complaint i have with them is that it has the internal battery, but that is something all ipods have. as for 6th gen, that will probably not come out for some time. the current focus for apple is the iPhone and i cant see them coming out with a new iPod in the near future. the only reason i'd say to wait is that if you are in the need of a better video player, the next one coming out might have a larger screen similar to the iPhone, but that isn't a given yet. overall, i'd say go with the 5th gen. also, if u get it from amazon i think it's a little cheaper, but i cant promise that.

as for the person above that says go with the iPhone, i must disagree. the iPhone will set you back $500-600 and only give u 4 or 8 gb of memory. that is not a ton of music or video. its also on Cingular, which depending on your area might not be the best service provider (in mine Verizon is tops).

------------------------
iPod60GB + iTunes
------------------------

Well, I can tell you one thing, I use iTunes mostly for downloading music and

ECT, but I have never downloaded anything but music to my iPod60GB Video.

I am still learning how to use iTunes.

I found out the hard way that, I can't download

Videos from the ones I own to my, 60GB iPod.

The DVD's that are not on iTunes will not download.

You have to subscribe to iTunes, so you can download movies, games,

Music, ECT.

I know that in the first place, I did not want to subscribe, but I had

No choose, so I couldn't get to download any, movies, music, ECT

In the first place. Unless, there may be another way.

I still think my 60GB iPod is a great MP3 player

I hope this is an ok answer?

i bought the 5th gen ipod may of last year, its still nice. i want a new one though, the ipods are a bit too expensive for me, lacking some nice features. i would just take the jump for iphone when it comes out in june, its worth it.
