May be going to one soon that's for the whole school. I didn't get an invite to the class one. Neither did most of the people I'm still in touch with from school. My school had its fair share of nasty little b*tches who did things like act as if "hello" was the biggest joke they'd ever heard, and you could tell they were forcing themselves to laugh sometimes, it was so fake. They just seemed to think they had to laugh & make fun of certain people. I could be wrong but it sounds like they haven't changed much! I haven't thought about most of it in the 10 years since I left but occasionally when I meet someone who acts like they did back then I feel like that time hasn't passed. So have you been to a school reunion? How did you survive it? Any tips? I need to be at my best :)

It could be they don't like you and your crowd. It could also be that the search committee could not find you. I was on the search committee for our 25th, 30th and 35th. We found a total of 200 people, out of 600 possibles.

If you live in the same town and haven't changed your name, you were shunned. If you have moved three times since you graduated, gotten married and now use your husband's name, they may have tried and failed. I won't hazard a guess as to how hard they tried.

I went to my 15th, 25th, 30th, 35th and 40th. I enjoyed them. For the 25th I sat with the only person who was taller, skinnier and smarter than I was. (Dozens were taller or skinnier or smarter, but only one was all three.) It was a table for 8, and one of the couples was a man who had made fun of both of us then because he was an athlete and we were awkward. He spent 15 minutes telling us what a wonderful carpet salesman he had become. (I was a computer programmer at the time, my tall, skinny smart friend was a consulting engineer.) When Mike the Jock went to get his 4th scotch and soda, Glen and I almost fell out of our chairs laughing.

As to how to survive, just be honest. Some of your classmates will have done bettr than you, some worse. Most of them will have matured. You don't have to talk to the ones you don't like.

for the most part, honestly, people dont change. just look at the work places, guys talk about who they had sex with over the weekend or girls gossip about how how fat or skinny other girls are. and even people that do change, something about the high school environment (even a reunion) brings them back to that time and they start to behave like so. unless you're incredibly successful or interested in catching someone there whom you'd like to get back in touch with, i would advise against attending, you'll most likely face all the same things you did in high school.
