There are certain special players that you could build a team around and that player could lead that team to a championship. Anyone on that team is very fortunate to be playing with that franchise player. You have the franchise and his supporting cast, and Shaq was that franchise player on them championship Laker teams. Shaq is a proven franchise player who could win a title with anyone. Every team Shaq has played for has been to the finals. The Magic, Lakers, & Heat..and two of them teams won titles with Shaq. So is Shaq the reason for Kobe's titles? Yes. Kobe could of been replaced by anyone(D-Wade) but you can't replace the BIG FELLA.
Check out there stats in the finals they won.
2000 finals: Shaq: 38ppg 16.7rpg (mvp)
2000 finals: Kobe: 15.6ppg 4.6apg

2001 finals: Shaq: 33ppg, 15.8rpg, 4.8apg (mvp)
2001 finals: Kobe: 24.6ppg, 7.8rpg, 5.8apg

2002 finals: Shaq: 36.3ppg, 12.3rpg, 3.8apg (mvp)
2002 finals: Kobe: 26.8ppg, 5.8rpg, 5.3apg

Shaq is clearly the reason.

Everyone on the team who scored, rebounded, assisted, blocked, stole the ball, and played contributed. That isn't the question. The question is, is Shaq the reason for Kobe having 3 titles? With Shaq being a special championship franchise player, the answer is yes, and it didn't have anything to do with Phil. Shaq have been there and won without Phil & Kobe.

p.s. Kobe was nothing but a good ROLE player on that team. Just check the stats. In 2000, Shaq doubled Kobe's point average in points and had a averaged a monsteress double double each time they won.

For you guys who said Shaq couldn't do it without Kobe are all idiots! Because he already has (2006 finals). Was Kobe playing with the Heat last year? And was Kobe or Wade playing with Shaq when the Magic reached the finals? Noooooo! See Kobe can easily be replaced.....and if Duncan was on that Lakers team & Shaq was on the Spurs with Robinson, the Lakers wouldn't of stood a chance..LMAO! See there..Shaq can't be replaced.

You no what? I give up on you guys. If you guys want to be stupid, then be stupid. I know you guys see the numbers. There is no way Kobe did as much as Shaq done. Shaq is, was, and always will be the reason why Kobe got 3 rings. Shaq could of won with any other good guard(A.I., T-Mac, Reggie Miller, Allen Houston, Ray Allen, & etc.) Threw out 2000-02, if any of those guys played along side Shaq they would of 3 peated!

yeah i actually agree with you here. its so easy to build a championship team around him. and even though shaq and kobe supposedly hated each other, out on the court they worked well together. there's no doubt about that. but you could say the same goes for d-wade now... he has shaq to thank for last year's championship too. and as much as i hate to say it... if you put shaq on any team, mr. man of steel could probably make them champions too. the facts dont lie...

p.s. thanks for accepting my apology... i really respect that. and i accept your apology too. hopefully from now on we can be civil. =)

Shaq may have won a title without Kobe, but in a sense, he had a Kobe-like player playing with him, in D-Wade. You would have to say that Shaq would not have won his title in Miami without Wade.

Shaq was easily the MVP of the 3 Laker finals, but the centers he faced were an abolute joke... he matched up against Rik Smits in 2000, an already over-the hill Dikembe Mutombo in 2001, and Todd MacCulloch of the Nets in 2002. Not exactly great competition.

The only time Shaq faced a real center in the finals, he was annihilated (by Olajuwon, who was at his peak).

However, It is definitely true that there are more Kobes out there than there are Shaqs. And we'll see another Kobe before we see another Shaq.

However, those Laker teams would probably not have reached the finals without both Shaq and Kobe. These two guys needed each other in order to get out of the Western Conference. Sacramento and San Antonio were still both excellent teams during those years.

And don't forget, Orlando made the finals because Michael Jordan took most of 1995 off, and only returned for the last few games of the season. Had he played a full season in Chicago, Orlando would not have gotten past the Bulls in the playoffs.

I think Shaq is the reason Kobe has 3 titles but I also think Kobe is the reason Shaq has 3 with the Lakers. The reason the Lakers were so successful was because they played as a team. The two of them made the other better, just like Wade is now the reason Shaq has a title with the Heat. They play as a team. And to be honest the more I think about it the more I realize that Shaq needed Kobe, and needs D-Wade more than they need Shaq.

Shaq didn't need Phil or Kobe?

Why did Shaq spend three years with the Lakers without reaching the finals before Phil Jackson?

It's difficult to argue against your position-- I don't think anyone can argue that Kobe was the MVP of any of those three championship seasons. He had heroic moments, and the Lakers probably wouldn't have won without Kobe, but Shaq indeed was the cornerstone of the team.

Though, to say that it was Shaq and Shaq alone is wrong. Phil Jackson helped bring the Lakers over that hump, and Shaq would probably admit that.

Yes, and Kobe is the reason Shaq has 3 of his 4. Anyone can replace Kobe? I wouldn't call Wade just anybody. He is, in fact, the only other 2 guard in Kobes league right now besides, maybe, Arenas and Iverson. And Shaq is not irreplaceable either. Do you think a Duncan/Kobe combo would be ringless??

Why all the Kobe hatred? Really, I don't get it.

Yes!
Shaq is also the reason why Penny Hardaway was a superstar before Penny injured his knee.
Kobe was a stud his second year in the league, when he was inserted into the starting lineup. But he has said shaq has given him pointers.
As soon as Shaq goes to the Heat, Wade becomes an all star.
Whatever Shaq has Touched Turns to Gold

Shaq's my popular participant by utilising some distance yet i'm nonetheless gonna shield Kobe. Shaq became into truthfully the perfect participant in the league by utilising some distance while he gained those 3 championships. yet to call kobe a place participant is stupid and ignorant. What approximately the two video games against the pacxers while shaq fouled out and the video games went into time beyond regulation. Kobe positioned up 8 in one recreation and then 12 in yet another. They performed the east the place there wasnt a dominant enormous guy. Your in basic terms element could desire to be Dikembe Mutombo and seem what shaq did to him. with the objective to hire shaq became into phil jacksons call. sure it became into 50/50. Kobe performed a extra needed place in the playoffs till now he performed in the finals. The east became into heavily regular with guards yet no longer in the west. Duriong the finals he performed iverson who became right into a capturing shelter on the time, Reggie Miller while he became into nonetheless an all action picture star, and jason kidd while he became right into a genuine protecting expert (even however i think of kerry kittles performed protection on Kobe). How come jordan in no way even gained a playoff recreation till scottie have been given there. do u surely think of he could have gained 6 rings without scottie(a corridor of famer). The Bulls could have had between the perfect communities of all time. in all hazard the perfect participant of all time, between the perfect 6'th men(Kukoc), Pippen, between the perfect coaches, and 2 alternative all stars (BJ Armstrong, and horace grant) yet they could have lost to the Magic with shaq and penny or the knicks with ewing and starks if scottie wasnt there. Kobe wasnt the foremost participant yet he advantageous as hell wasnt a place participant. possibly fifty 5/40 5. Playoffs are trully significant

yes. he won with wade and the heat so there is no reason not. has Kobe won again after Shaq left? no! jackson is still coaching so he's not it. Shaq was powerful for that team. now he's old but still a good scorer. but his numbers were phenomanel.

Kobe is a better player but the all around lakers are not.

he is a big reason why they won. he is won of the most dominating players in history of hte game. without kobe he might have even won this by himslef. he is one of those players that you do build a team around. he is close to the end of his carreer and he still plays great when needed. with d-wade out in miami you will see him lead them to the playoffs
